New Hampshire Housing has approved over $1 million in funding for the development of Senior Living at Notre Dame in Berlin. The funding will be used by Littleton-based AHEAD (Affordable Housing, Education, and Development) to turn the citys historic Notre Dame high school into over 30 units of affordable housing for seniors.

Planned renovations include lead abatement and the installation of an energy-efficient wood chip boiler. Residents of the finished project will have access to supportive services and will have the benefit of paying a fixed percentage of their income toward rent. Construction is planned to begin in October, New Hampshire Housing said.

The sale of 247-249 Pleasant St. in Concord two buildings totaling 5,356 square feet that were once part of the former homestead of Mary Baker Eddy have been sold by the state of New Hampshire to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for $900,000. Judy Niles-Simmons and Karl Norwood of NAI Norwood Grouprepresented the seller.

Stratham-based Jones & Beach Engineers Inc. recently completed survey, site design and obtained project approvals for Turbocams new 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on Route 9 in Barrington. Occupancy is scheduled for spring 2014. Wayne Morrill was the project manager for Jones & Beach and Barry Gier was lead design engineer.

Envirovantage of Epping recently took part in the $33 million renovation of the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine.

Envirovantage, an environmental remediation and demolition company, was hired to perform a vast amount of demolition and remediation services throughout the arena, including the removal of over 10,000 tons of concrete debris.

Families in Transition, a provider of services to the homeless in Manchester, Concord and Dover, and Housing BeneFITs, a nonprofit started by FIT to improve the supply and quality of affordable housing in New Hampshire, held an Aug. 29 groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of work on the Hayward Street Housing Development.

The development will consist of six two-bedroom apartments and will serve parents and their children who are experiencing homelessness.

According to Judy Bergeron, Housing BeneFITs Board Chair and FIT board member, In 2012, Families in Transition had over 7,000 requests for assistance by families and individuals experiencing homelessness. We were able to help less than 10 percent of those people. We are very grateful to have this new facility to help meet the increasing need for this type of housing and assistance in the community.

Jewett Automotive Design & Construction, Raymond, has contracted with Volkswagen of Rochester to renovate its dealership at 20 Farmington Rd. in Rochester, the company announced. The 12,000-square-foot design-build project involves flooring, ceiling and lighting renovations to the showroom as well as exterior upgrades. Jewett also recently announced that it has contracted with Commonwealth Motors to provide interior renovations to its Nissan and Honda dealerships in Lawrence, Mass.

Maine-based S.W. Cole Engineering Inc. which has New Hampshire offices in Keene, Manchester and Somersworth -- has acquired Summit CMT, a construction materials testing subsidiary from CES Inc., a Brewer, Maine-based engineering, sciences and surveying firm.
