DIPLOMA IN

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Supply Chain Management relates to how a firm organizes receipts of material and components, adds value, and delivers goods and services to the customer through efficient planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution by engaging multiple stakeholders in the supply chain network. Increased proliferation of products and services, with demanding customers who expect product differentiation at lower costs, poses several challenges to a supply chain professional. Firms which can establish a unique supply chain network and create it as a strategic asset gain a competitive edge and, in fact, can acquire a leadership position across industries and markets. Supply chain management cuts across various functional areas, including production and operations, marketing, finance, and information technology. Until recently, there has been a tendency to push supply chain problems more towards finding logistical solutions, which are typically taken at the operational level, across functional areas. However, this is changing and a broader level of involvement of managers is being brought in these days. Technology explosion has also led to a significant change in supply chain processes. Over the last two decades, firms operating in a fiercely competitive environment have been increasingly focusing on an efficient supply chain network managed by dedicated professionals with an inter-disciplinary skill sets.
