This bureau was established in 1961 at the Bose family house on Elgin Road and holds the Netaji Subhas Ch. Prasanna Kumar was a social reformer,Journalist,Legal expert and one of the founder of Calcutta University. It was the birth place of William Makpeace Thakeray,the renowned novelist who was born on July 18,1810. This mosque was built by Prince Golam Mohammed,One of the most successful of Tipu Sultan's sons. This building was founded by a lottery and was established in 1813.It was designed by the Colonel John Garstin,the then Chief Engineer of Bengal. This Bridge is the longest one of its kind in India and the major cable stayed bridges in the world. The total length of the bridge is 822.96m. The lowest part of the bridge is 33.87 to 34.38 meters high from the highest water level of the river Hooghly.
