Every time someone refers a friend to your school they get to spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes. Most adults have an inner child and love to play games. They are all laughing and they might think it's silly but deep down they really want one of the prizes. This has two benefits: It rewards people for giving you referrals It acts as a giant advertising campaign for your referrals
#2: Create a Thank You Board Another way to acknowledge people for their referrals is to have a giant board in your guest area thanking people who have given you referrals (and mentioning the names of the people they have referred). #3: Send Out a Monthly Email Every month, you can easily send an e-mail thanking all the people who made referrals and list the prizes they won. All the activities act both as rewards and reminders. #4: Promote it in Your Newsletter Include thanks to referrers in your newsletter listing prizes they have won and welcoming new referrals. Dont have a newsletter? Its a valuable extra tip to consider. It doesnt have to be long or professionally produced.

But its a great way of improving retention and participation by keeping everyone involved and informed about whats happening in your school. People often skip over emails and social media but will take a few minutes to read a printed newsletter. #5: Send Out Sniper Cards When someone makes a referral, send them a sniper card. Thats an unexpected personal card just saying thank you for the referral. It makes people feel good and means they will refer more people. Saying thank you makes people feel good and means they will refer more people.
#6:
Give
Double
Rewards
in
the
First
Week
People
are
most
excited
when
they
are
new
so
you
can
offer
double
rewards
in
the
first
week
double
spins
of
the
wheel
and
double
prizes.
When
you
ask
for
referrals
from
new
people,
just
ask
them
for
the
name
and
address
of
three
friends.
But
dont
call
them
for
two
or
three
days
its
better
to
ask
their
friend
to
say
youll
be
calling.
That
means
they
expect
the
call.
#7:
Hold
a
Buddy
Week
Set
aside
some
to
allow
people
to
bring
buddies
to
classes.
Most
people
love
to
bring
a
friend
along
and
show
them
what
they
can
do.
If
you
run
some
buddy
days
or
weeks,
youll
find
many
want
to
sign
up
either
right
away
or
when
you
invite
them
back
for
a
follow-up
session.

#8: Arrange a Regular Raffle In addition to the prize draw, you can give everyone who makes a referral a ticket for a big raffle that takes place at an event every few weeks when you have enough referrals. Make the prize as attractive as possible once you get lots of referrals, youll see you can afford to provide a good prize. When they win a $1,000 cash prize, for example, people go crazy. You can post the videos of them winning on Facebook and YouTube. This is great advertising for referrals and everybody wants to be involved. #9: Publicize Referral Requests Everywhere Publicize your referrals by sharing details of the program everywhere possible. For example, you can print referral requests on: Receipts Schedules Business cards And you can announce your program during: In-house tournaments Belt tests Group events Mass emails to students (as a PS) #10: Create a Special Website Another good way of attracting referrals is having a special page on your website so that your students can give a unique link to their friends.

Bonus Referral Tip #1: Women are the Best Referrers Our experience is that women are much better than men for providing referrals. It's common for one woman to be responsible for 10 to 20 referrals. Bonus Referral Tip #2: Take Care of the Golden Geese When someone gives you a referral, make sure you focus on that person. Don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg. When they give you referrals, give them attention call and send a thank you card. That will lead to you getting more. Bonus Referral Tip #3: Set Public Goals for Referrals When you go public with your goals for referrals e.g. We want to get 30 referrals this month, the whole team will work together to help achieve it. If you are setting targets for instructors, you need to recognize that the guy teaching one or two classes wont get as many referrals as one teaching several per day. Bonus Referral Tip #4: Offer an Incentive for Charity We often find that including an incentive of helping a charity is a good way of getting more people involved. This is a win-win situation as we help the charity and get more students.
