----- REQUIRED NARRATIVE SECTION ----Name of Nominee: Christoff M. Lindsey -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------21. Explain the need/planned use for a SAME-San Antonio Post Scholarship (250 words or less): The scholarship will afford me the opportunity to continue my education at Prairie View A & M without the stress of worrying about my financial standing with the university. This semester I was unexpectedly forced to apply for a large loan, the Federal Direct Unsubsizeded Loan, in order to pay for my on- campus housing and meal plan costs. This came as a shock because I believed that I would receive grants that would cover the housing and meal costs, but unfortunately I was not awarded the grants and remaining balance had to paid through loans. I am extremely concerned that my financial status with the university may be in jeopardy as the cost of housing or meals may increase as well as the amount of my loans. My financial aid does not cover the total amount needed to live on-campus I may be forced to find housing elsewhere. However I am an out-of-state student and do not have my own transportation which could decidedly make my school life more difficult. If I decide to live on campus I will have to apply for loans every semester until I graduate and commission The scholarship will relieve the financial burden and strain and allow me to focus on my academic studies .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The SAME Values Integrity: Unwavering commitment to always do what is right, regardless of consequences. Patriotism: Support our National ideals and take pride in our country. Public Service: Recognize the critical contribution that public servants play in supporting the economic and environmental needs of the Nation. National Security: Recognize the dedication of our National Security team comprised of uniform services, civil service and contractors in defending freedom. Technical Competence: Deliver high-quality solutions. Excellence: Strive for the highest standards of performance in all actions, both personal and professional. Environmental Stewardship: Preserve, protect, conserve and restore our National resources through sustainable development. 22. Explain how you feel you live up to these values of our Society (250 words or less): I feel that I not only live up to the SAME values but I embody them as well. The values of SAME our identical to my own, and are also echoed in the different organizations I am involved in as well. By choosing to to join the Reserve Officer Training Program I believe that I have demonstrated patriotism and the belief in the importance of national security. I take pride in being an American and having the freedom

and liberties that each citizen is blessed to have, and because of this I have chosen the path to become a Naval Officer and commit to the protection of our nation's security. I also believe public servants are the backbone our country which is why I joined Student Government Association, so I could be a student servant to those on my campus, to provide the service of addressing the student body's concerns and needs. I understand the importance of technical competence and how it is interconnected to the prosperity of our nation which is why I chose to become an engineer. By becoming an engineer I feel that those compiled skills will enable me to be competent and knowledgeable enough to contribute to my country, especially in terms of my goal of funding the environment and the use of sustainable resources. Academic excellence and the pursuit thereof, are among my personal standards, as demonstrated in my academic records on the Dean's List and Honor's List. I believe whole-heartedly that I live up to the SAME values and if selected will continue to demonstrate these values.
