Integral Leg Prosthesis (ILP)

The ILP is a new type of prosthetic care for leg amputees making a conventional prosthesis unnecessary. The ILP is modeled on the anatomy of the human body and takes the load back to the thigh bone and hip joint when walking. The manufacturers - Orthodynamics GmbH, have many years of experience in the field of internal prosthetics and the use of state-ofthe-art materials which makes this type of care possible. The ILP is implanted directly into the thigh bone facilitating a safe connection between the patient and the prosthesis.

Miranda Cashin, Implant Patient

Miranda was amputated at 14 months as the result of a birth defect. As part of the condition she is also missing her right hip joint. But growing up Miranda never wanted to be seen as 'the disabled girl', she still doesnt. She never wanted to be treated differently because she happened to be missing a limb nor did she like to think of it as defining her identity. Her Mum taught her that the only limitations her disability had on her life were those that she placed upon herself. Miranda has body-boarded, skied, rock-climbed, abseiled, kayaked and bushwalked and beat able-bodies kids at swimming carnivals. On school camps the instructors would often eye her leg nervously and offer for her to sit the activity out. 'I don't think so', shed respond. Shed give anything a go.

Mitch Grant, Implant Patient and Spokesman

Mr. Grant, has a Diploma in Business and Event Management and has his Certificate 3 and 4 in Personal Training. Mitch chose to become an ILP recipient in late 2011. Since then, he has been helping other prospective ILP patients through the development of tailored fitness programs, to assist them in reaching an ideal physical condition before undergoing the procedure. Mitch owns a 24hr gym (Good Vibes Fitness) - which is where his real passion lies. His main goal in life is to achieve his maximum fitness level and optimum health. Most of all, he wants to inspire others as fitness is not only his life but also his passion.
