Background Thus far, we have been engaging with a variety of primary and secondary sources regarding classical western education. From the Older Sophists, to Isocrates, to Quintilian, these rhetors/teachers all had a unique spin on education and today we currently experience these unique spins in one guise or another. Objective (s) In this literacy-task, I invite you to reflect on classical pedagogy in concert with your own education experience. In other words, how do you see, say, Isocratess vision of a liberal arts education playing out or not playing out at UNG? Or, what connections can be made between your experience with music in elementary or middle school and how the Romans viewed the teaching or music? When evaluating your essay, I will be looking for the following: Construct a clearly articulated main point Reflect on and pull examples from your education experience Point to specific words or passages in the class reading
