A. SIMPLE QUESTIONS (YES/NO QUESTIONS) (ntrebri simple = ntrebri la care rspunsul este Da / Nu) 1. STRONG VERBS (VERBE PUTERNICE) Question with INVERSION (ntrebrile se fac prin INVERSIUNE verb + subiect): TO BE (a fi): am,is,are,was, were. HAVE GOT / HAS GOT (a avea) CAN (a putea) COULD MAY (a avea voie, a fi posibil) MUST (a trebui) (vezi i alte verbe modale) EXAMPLE: Ann is my friend. Is Ann my friend? Yes, she is./No, she isnt. 2. WEAK VERBS (VERBE SLABE) Question with DO/DOES/DID (ntrebrile se fac cu ajutorul verbelor DO/DOES/DID) EXAMPLE: I work hard every day. Do I work hard every day? Yes, I do./No, I dont. Mother works hard every day. Does Mother work hard every day?Yes, she does./No, she doesnt. They worked hard yesterday. Did they work hard yesterday?Yes, they did./No, they didnt. B. C. TAG QUESTIONS (ntrebri scurte care apar la sfritul propoziiilor pentru a verifica informaii, a cere o confirmare, sau ajutorul) EXAMPLE: It's cold, isn't it? verificarea informaiei You like apples, don't you? se cere o confirmare You couldn't lend me a pound, could you? se cere ajutorul

 Se folosesc numai dup propoziii afirmative sau negative (niciodat dup ntrebri!) EXAMPLE: You're the new secretary, aren't you? You're not the new secretary, are you? Folosim un tag question negativ dup o propoziie afirmativ; Folosim un tag question afirmativ dup o propoziie negativ; Pentru persoana I singular (I), tag question-ul este "aren't I" Intonaia din tag question va clarifica dac vorbitorul dorete sau nu rspuns la ntrebare. Example: The meeting is at 4 o'clock, isn't it? - intonaie urctoare vorbitorul ateapt rspuns - intonaie cobortoare vorbitorul cunoate rspunsul n propoziii imperative: o cu verbul negativ, tag question este "will you" Example: Don't forget, will you? o cu verbul afirmativ, tag question poate fi: will, won't, can't, could, shall Example: Give me a hand, will you? Do sit down, won't you? Open a window, would you? Shut up, can't you? Let's have a party, shall we? D. ECHO QUESTIONS (ntrebrile ecou) (ntrebri pe care interlocutorul poate s le repete ca un ecou,ca semn de mirare sau a lipsei de nelegere ) Example:A: I'm getting married. B: You're getting married? ATTENTION SIGNALS (ntrebri scurte, folosite n conversaie pentru a arta c interlocutorul este atent i interesat de cele spus: Oh yes? Really? sau verb auxiliar + pronume) Example:A: It was a terrible party. B: Was it? A: We had a lovely holiday. B: Did you? A: I don't understand. B: Don't you?
