Presidents Message. . .
Thanks to our enthusiastic TEAM for the great turnout at our second annual Giant Tiger Back to School Shopping Spree draw on August 24th and to Lion Mariette for chairing this initiative. Thanks to Lions Mariette and Jean and all members who ensured that we had another successful season of BBQs at Giant Tiger.
Lion George Croft is President of the Strathroy - Caradoc Lions Club, and a member of the Global Membership Team for District A-1.

We enjoyed a good meal at our new dinner meeting locale, the Duke on Sydenham restaurant, and thank Lion Gary for these arrangements. Lion Ed and I assisted the Town and St. Clair Conservation Authority plant trees in Alexandra Park on Sept. 25th and we believe that the door is now open for our club to assist with future plantings. The annual Tree of Lights event planning is proceeding quickly under the capable Chairmanship of Lion Barry. We expect good community participation with sponsorships by businesses, bulb sales to the public and the Lighting Ceremony itself on November 29th with free hot chocolate and horse and wagon rides for the public in addition to local choirs singing Christmas music. (see Page 3)

Alexandra Park - Tree Planting


A heavy rainstorm reinforced the reason for planting more trees, and the crew got to work!
! Despite short notice, our club assisted the St. Clair Conservation Authority and Town in planting over 200 trees to reduce erosion adjacent to the creek owing into the Sydenham River in Alexandra Park on September 25th. Bryce, a grade 12 student and the 17 year old son of prospective member Tanya Walker, came out to assist on September 21st but the planting was postponed arising from the ooding of the park from very heavy rainfall the previous night.

Light bulb sales will be at two locations this year; Shoppers Drugs and Great Canadian Super Store. There will also be two days during the week that we will be selling on sites;Thursdays at Shoppers only, and on Saturdays at Shoppers and the Super Store. Thursday hours are 10 - 12, Saturday hours are (two teams) 10 - 12 and 12 - 2. SHOPPERS! The picture above is the start of a video clip. President George suggested that the Strathroy Caradoc Lions could assume a hands on community service project by repainting the handrails on the bridge from the Senior Centre parking lot across to Alexandra Park. The London Chapter of Autism Ontario conducted their 2nd annual Ride & Stride for Autism event on Sunday, September 29th. Doug and Marion Smith are strong corporate and personal advocates of special events in the area, and Strathroy - Caradoc Lions responded quickly to their appeal for nancial support for this event. During this event, children with autism are paired with a student from Fanshawe College to walk or ride with ne success for the participants.
