Sailing in inclement weather conditions with a heavy swell, the ship has developed cracks in its hull and finally broke in two forward of the bridge, near its center. It appears that the damage occurred as a result of wave-induced stresses on the hull, with no indicators for a collision or fire which might have weakened the hull. Feet pain (but usually big toe pain) can also be gout. (A uric acid test is the best way to know this). A Nattokinase product taken on an empty stomach or Circuplex by Standard Process would help with this condition. It could be plantar fasciitis which ultrasound would be the best action. It is rare for even diets of natural foods to supply more than 2 mg of iodine per day, while most diets supply less than 1 mg per day. Several investigators have shown convincing evidence connecting inadequate iodine intake and breast cancer (6). Japanese women living in Japan consumed a daily average of 13.8 mg total elemental iodine and they experience one of the lowest prevalence (risk) for breast, ovarian and uterine cancer (6). Some Japanese living in the costal regions, whose diets contain a large amount of seaweed, consume up to 5080 mgs per day with no adverse affects! In the 1960's, one slice of bread in the USA contained the full RDA of 0.15 mg iodine. The risk for breast cancer was then 1 in 20 (7). Over the last 2 decades, iodine was replaced by bromine in the bread making process. Bromine blocks thyroid function and may interfere with the anticancer effect of iodine on the breast (4). Now, the risk for breast cancer is 1 in 8 and increasing 1% per year (7). Chlorine also blocks iodine in the body, so chlorinated water (both drinking and bathing) is to be greatly avoided. The RDA limits for vitamins and minerals were established after World War II. One of the last essential elements included in the RDA system was iodine, established in 1980 and confirmed in 1989 (8). The RDA for iodine was based on the amount of iodine/iodide needed to prevent goiter, extreme stupidity and hypothyroidism (9). The optimal requirement of the whole human body for iodine has never been studied. Therefore, the optimal amount of this element for physical and mental wellbeing is unknown. Based on demographic studies, the mainland Japanese consumed an average of 13.8 mg daily and they are one of the healthiest people on planet earth (6). One capsule of Iodo-Caps contains 12.5 mg iodine/iodide, an amount very close to the 13.8 mg average intake of mainland Japanese. Several studies have demonstrated a relationship between low iodine intake and fibrocystic disease of the breast (FDB), both in women and laboratory animals (1,2). The minimum amount of iodine required for control and prevention of FDB is equivalent to 0.1mg/kg body weight/day. For example, for a 50 kg woman, the daily amount of iodine would be 5 mg. The thyroid gland needs iodide to function properly. The original study done 80 years ago to control goiter in adolescent girls used 9 mg iodide daily (3). Whole Body Iodine Sufficiency Thyroidologists like Dr. Abraham have learned of the tremendous benefits of what they call whole body iodine sufficiency-when the body is saturated with sufficient iodine to supply all the tissues. Along the way, they have also discovered some amazing things about current thyroid treatment, thyroid drugs, and iodine. The very first thing discovered is that iodine is the treatment of choice for hypo- and hyperthyroid problemswith or without goiter. Doctors could get as high as a 90% cure rate with hyperthyroid (overactive thyroid) by using what would be considered high doses of iodine daily.

Doses of six to 37 mgs daily seemed equally effective in resolving cases of hypothyroid (underactive thyroid). These doses, once considered normal, are now considered high by most people in the medical profession. Whole body iodine sufficiency is also a critical means to counter the side effects of thyroid hormone medications (Synthroid, etc.). Long-term use of these drugs is associated with depletion of thyroid and tissue iodine levels, as well as increased rates of cancer. In addition to thyroid therapy, all thyroid patients should be on iodine therapy, with the goal to reach a whole body iodine sufficiency. When this state is reached, the following results (gathered using sophisticated lab testing, fluorescence screening, clinical measurements, and a host of other high-tech medical testing procedures) have been observed: Goiter is reduced or eliminated. Stress on the pituitary gland with resultant high TSH readings is eliminated. Increased excretion of thyroid poisons and heavy metals occurs via the kidneys. The liver's detoxification mechanisms are enhanced. Body temperature normalizes Obesity is more easily overcome-in fact, iodine therapy may be a critical and unknown factor in obesity. How To Tell If You Need More Iodine: One of the first indicators is belly fat in men. Amiodarone Caution Guidelines! If you are about to try to achieve iodine sufficiency with slowly increasing doses of Prolamine Iodine, You must note that this is to be done in place of Amiodarone-not simultaneously with it. So you will need to have your doctor stop the drug therapy when you start the iodine therapy. Therapy usually starts at 2 tablets of Prolamine Iodine daily for a week. If no problem arises, the dose increases slowly every week. If there are no problems along the way, and especially if your heart begins to function more normally, you would gradually increase you dosage to 12 mg to 24 mg per day for three months. This is, of course, in conjunction with your current heart protocol of phytonutrients like Cardioplus and/or Cataplex B. Types of Iodine and Doses For decades Lugol iodine has been used by expert Thyroidologists. But liquid iodine has problems-it tastes bad, can upset your stomach, and can stain your clothes. There is a Lugol tablet on the market called Prolamine Iodine. This is the type of iodine Dr. Abraham uses. Each capsule of Prolamine Iodine contains 3 mgs of iodine. Iodo-Caps is sold only to physicians, Exactly what dose is best for you is difficult to determine. But we now know that what were formerly considered high doses of the right form of iodine are safe and effective. Some iodine-deficient people only need 1-3 tablets daily. For people with more serious iodine deficiency problems, iodine sufficiency must be achieved. This is accomplished with a daily dose of around 12mg to 24 mgs for three months: or 4-8 Prolamine Iodine tablets. And this dose should be achieved slowlystarting with 1-2 daily. Without side effects, the dose should be increased weekly until the iodine sufficiency dose of 4-8 daily is achieved. After achieving the full iodine sufficiency dose, it should be maintained for three months. **Note** If you experience any of the following symptoms while taking the Prolamine Iodine you have most likely achieved iodine tissue saturation and should stop the iodine until these symptoms have ceased. It would be advisable to also perform the iodine patch test for further confirmation of iodine tissue saturation. We also now know that anyone taking thyroid drugs like Synthroid should also be on iodine therapy. At the very least, iodine therapy can decrease the need for thyroid hormone drugs. We are just beginning to discover the amazing curative powers of iodine. While it may not be the panacea that old-timers have claimed, it is indeed critical. It is often the missing factor in "incurable" conditions like obesity, diabetes, breast disease, polycystic ovaries, thyroiditis, hypothyroid, autoimmune thyroid problems, and more. While some doctors claim that no one is really allergic to iodine, I have seen sensitivities. If you do not know if you are allergic to iodine, then you are not. Those who are allergic know it and carefully avoid shellfish, iodized salt, most fish, kelp, and other foods that contain iodine.

The Iodine Patch Test If you are one of those who would like more proof that your body needs or does not need iodine, let me share a simple test. But a bottle of Tincture of Iodine at the drug store and paint a 2" square spot on your inner arm. If it disappears in less than eight hours, you desperately need iodine. If it disappears in 24 hours, you also need iodine. If it simply stays on your arm and begins to slowly fade in color after a full 24 hours, you have most likely reached iodine sufficiency. You can retest yourself every one to two weeks while on therapy. And you can use the test to help you judge your individual dosage need for iodine. Remember that contrary to current medical opinion, the real thyroid experts have proven that most patients who need iodine therapy require from 3 to 24 mgs./day. And that means from 1-8 Prolamine Iodine tablets daily. Always start out slowly. Judge your results, monitor your symptoms and any side effects, and use the thyroid patch test and or Barnes Basel temperature test (see below) to help you along the way. Barnes Basal Temperature Test Basal temperatures are taken first thing in the morning, when your body is completely at rest. At night before you go to bed, shake the thermometer down and leave it on your night table. In the morning, before getting out of bed and with as little movement as possible, place the thermometer in your armpit and leave it there for 10 minutes. Do not drink alcohol the night before you take your basal temperature. Use a mercury thermometer only. Do not use a digital thermometer. Menstruating women must take their temperatures on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days of their periods only. Non-menstruating women, women who had hysterectomies and men may take their temperatures anytime. The normal range is 36,6 - 36,8 C or 97.8 - 98.2 F. It is best to take 5 readings on different days and average the values. If your temperature is low this is a strong indicator for hypothyroid function and low iodine status. Proceed Slowly As discussed, some people are sensitive to the iodine. That is why all iodine therapy must be accomplished with a good degree of caution. Use the patch test to help you determine dose. Always start out at a low dose of 1 Prolamine Iodine tablet daily if you suspect you are sensitive. Increase your dose slowly-by adding one tablet each week. If you experience problems or side effects, stop your therapy. If you are like most people and continue to improve the therapy is effective. Before prescribing any treatment I believe a doctor should determine if the patient might suffer harmful effects from the treatment. "First Do No Harm." The treatment should also offer the prospect of helping the patient recover. MSP meets both of the criteria. I started using a silver suspension in protocols for patients with infections in January of 1992. The first patient, a female, had "walking" viral pneumonia. She was placed on one tablespoon of the silver suspension t.i.d. She was asymptomatic the fourth day into treatment. I was astounded. I thought that it might have been a misdiagnosis. Since that first experience I have treated more than 50 cases of viral pneumonia with the same positive results. Time of treatment varies, due to patient condition and severity of infection, from four days to thirty days. The outcome, however, is consistently positive; the infection is cleared. Since that first experience I have included MSP in protocols for all types of infectious diseases with positive results. MSP has cleared reoccurring ear infections in children who were scheduled for tube surgery making the procedure unnecessary. Infectious fibromyalgia(Fibromyositis) and Sjgren's syndrome patients have benefited from MSP therapy; MSP therapy helps many rheumatoid arthritis patients with synovial fluid infections that are causing inflammation to no longer need steroids. Systemic Candida Albicans is successfully treated with MSP. It is so effective we must start with small doses to control Herxheimer effect. Staph and other infections in the mouth (Gingivitis) have dramatically improved with MSP therapy. The Lyme disease spirochete (Borrelia burgdorferi) is eliminated using MSP therapy. I have records of Lyme patients who have been taking various antibiotics for three or more years who have become asymptomatic on MSP therapy after just three or four weeks of treatment. The average duration to rid the body of the spirochete is three to nine months. Systemic Candida Albicans frequently occurs in patients with Lyme; complicating the treatment and prolonging the duration of treatment. Lyme disease is far more prevalent than is generally known. Lyme has been reported in the U.S. in 43 states, and in all of Canada. I believe that reported cases of Lyme represent only about 20% of the actual number of Lyme cases. Lyme is routinely misdiagnosed as meningitis or as a "heat rash." A red rash is a typical symptom of Lyme. Mild Silver Protein solutions* are proving to be 100% effective in getting rid of the Lyme spirochete when they are included in the treatment protocol. The important thing about MSP therapy is that it is non-toxic. I have never observed any side effect from using MSP therapy, and I have used it in patients with all kinds of infections. In acute conditions as much as four tablespoons per day has been given, with no adverse reactions observed or reported. HIV positive patients have responded to MSP therapy if begun before the advanced stages of full blown AIDS. Temple University studies indicate that MSP kills the HIV virus in vitro. In 1949, Dr. Sven Hellerstrm from the Dermatological Clinic of Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden presented a paper "Erythema chronicum migrans Afzelius with meningitis" at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Southern Medical Association in Cincinnati, Ohio. In presenting his case, he provided convincing evidence that both erythema and subsequent

meningocerebrospinal symptoms may develop following a tick bite. He also reported on the successful treatment of his patient with penicillin, a drug shown previously by his colleague Dr. Hollstrm to be effective in the treatment of Erythema chronicum migrans (ECM). In the United States, ECM was first reported in 1970 on a physician bitten by a tick while grouse hunting in northeastern Wisconsin. The attending physician, Dr. Rudolf Scrimenti, recognized the similarity of the patient's skin reaction to the lesions of European ECM and promptly and successfully treated the patient with penicillin. The treatment of three additional patients with penicillin and of one with erythromycin resulted in complete resolution of symptoms within 48 to 72 hours. Considered unrelated to ECM were skin lesions in 13 of 51 residents in the eastern Connecticut towns of Lyme, Old Lyme, and East Haddam where, since 1972, clusters of inhabitants had been suffering of an illness characterized by recurrent attacks of asymmetric swelling and pain in large joints, especially the knee. Since such arthritic conditions were not known to be associated with ECM in Europe, the illness was thought to be a new clinical entity and was named Lyme arthritis, later changed to Lyme disease once it was realized thatarthritis was only one of several clinical manifestations of this disease. The search for effective antibiotics in the treatment of Lyme disease began in 1982 with my discovery of a spirochete now known as Borrelia burgdorferi as the causative agent of Lyme disease and of ECM and related disorders (acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans, lymphadenosis benigna cutis) in Europe. The antibiotics found effective include tetracyclines (doxycycline, minocycline), penicillins (penicillin G, amoxycillin), cephalosporins (cefataxim, ceftriaxone), and erythromycin. Application of these drugs depends on the time the disease is being diagnosed. Early Lyme disease is treated orally whereas late Lyme disease requires parenteral or a combination of parenteral and oral applications. Treatment failures have been reported for each of these drugs particularly for the tetracyclines that are only temporarily effective unless they are applied over long periods of time, i.e. months even years. Controversy exists over the length of treatment using Mild Silver Protein (MSP). Some investigators consider 21 to 30 days sufficient for the elimination of the spirochetes, while others believe that patients must be on therapy until they are completely free of symptoms.* The diagnosis of Lyme disease is a clinical one and is based on the development and recognition of the skin lesion (erythema migrans) a few days, weeks, or even months, after the bite of an infected tick. Unfortunately in up to 40% of the patients, the skin lesion does not develop, is not recognized, or is overlooked. Thus, without treatment, the disease spreads throughout the body and may affect the muscular, skeleton, cardiac and nervous systems. Indeed, Dr. Farber's recent claim having used MSP to successfully cure himself from late stage Lyme disease, comes at a time when thousands of patients suffering of this disease are refused extended antibiotic treatment because their physicians are unable to associate their clinical manifestations with those of Lyme disease. Although never established scientifically, it appears that the Mild Silver Protein silver colloid disables the enzyme(s) used by bacterial, fungal and viral agents for their oxygen metabolism causing them to suffocate upon contact. TRIAL RESULTS OF MILD SILVER PROTEIN IN LYME DISEASE* Preliminary laboratory studies on Borrelia burgdorferi spirochetes revealed that mild silver protein solutions reduce the growth rate of these cells significantly and eventually lead to cell death. It has been pointed out, however, that the spirochetes tested belong to a laboratory ATCC strain which is widely used in cell and tissue cultures and does not represent recent isolates from Lyme disease patients. In these tests, various concentrations of silver protein solutions were added to the culture of Borrellia spirochetes. Low concentrations of a silver protein solution (ranging from 2 to 10 parts per million) slowed the growth rate of the spirochetes over a time span of 1 to 3 days. Higher concentrations of silver protein (between 15 to 75 parts per million) had a much faster deleterious effect on cell replication. Growth inhibition depended on the concentration of the silver protein and on the duration of treatment. More studies are definitely necessary to obtain a clearer picture of the interaction between the silver protein and Borrelia burgdorferi. As these very preliminary studies suggest, growth and replication of Lyme spirochetes are measurably inhibited by silver protein in the in vitro setting. Manfred E. Hermsii (HS-1).* In both tests, BSK cultured

spirochetes were treated with 150 and 15 ppm of colloidal silver. When examined 24 hours later, none of the treated cultures contained live spirochetes. The largest problem stemming from this treatment appears to be the reluctance of the individual to continue with the protocol when the Herxheimer (or detoxification) reaction occurs. The Herxheimer reaction occurs in 80% of the cases when Candida is present, and can vary in degree of severity on a case by case basis. Candida is present in almost all Lyme cases due to prolonged antibiotic usage. To estimate the severity of the reaction one must assess the progression or extent of Candida. The Herxheimer reaction does not appear to be as severe if very small amounts are used for 7 days prior to beginning the full protocol amount. The treatment period seems to vary from individual to individual. Substantial improvement is noted in most cases after two weeks on the full protocol. Within thirty days dramatic improvement is noticed in most cases. Continuing treatment for six months usually results in the individual being asymptomatic. Ongoing testing and trials may well prove that one injection of *this concentrated MSP may cure the disease.
