ARGUMENT AGAINST THE SECOND COMING

INTRODUCTION
God created the heaven and the earth, He created you and I (Gen 1:1; 1:27), He sitteth
in Heaven and make the earth His foot stool (Mat 5:35). He lives in heaven where
there is peace joy and love. No power failure, no quiz, mid-semester and general
exams. No stealing of under wear, cloths and laptops, it is peace all trough. But there
is something which God can not stand, which came in through two people and this has
brought judgement upon man.
Then God has made a plan of salvation to all men (Eu- angelion). So He sent His only
begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ to die for you and I, because the wages of sin is
death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Rom 6:23. And we are all born
a sinner (psl51:5). Heb 9:22b without the shedding of blood there is no remission of
sin. He alone could reconcile us through the blood of his cross (Col 1:20). So that we
might be free from sin and the penalty of sin which is death.
As many as those who receive Him John 1:12 He gave them power to become the
sons of God. Therefore if you believe him you shall be saved. Why should I believe?
God sent Him Jn 3:16, He died on the cross, He was beaten, spite on, wiped, pierce
His side, crown with thorn. Died and was buried and He rose from death for our
justification (Matt: 27; 28:1-20, Rom: 4:25). Halleluyah!
Jn 14:3 Jesus promised to come back for those who are His own. In Matthew 25 he
spoke extensively on the signs of His coming. Now for the purpose of this Scholarly
work, the following are some of the reason why this contemporary world will think
Christ Jesus is not Coming again but it Should be noted that Christ will come
(Matt24:31;1 Cor. 15:52):

REASONS WHY PEOPLE THINK CHRIST IS NOT COMING:

1. Elongation of the day (Mat 24:24): Matthew 24:24 for there shall arise false
Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it
were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. A lot of people has been deceived
and been deceived till now. The day seems unending and even some children of
God have turned back to follow Rev King, Jesu Oyigbo, Olumba Olumba etc. It
hardly needs to be noted that Jesus’ generation is very long gone, and with it the
dead-line for His return. He is now more than 1,900 years overdue, with no end in
sight.

2. Deception of the devil: Somebody once told me that if Jesus will come He
ought to have come and moreover there is no heaven anywhere so he will enjoy
himself to the fullest to the extent that even God will just throw him beyond the
hell fire. And is that actually true. The bible affirms it that he that shall come shall
come and not tarry (Heb10:37).

3. Because Iniquity shall Abound: Matthew 24:12 and because iniquity shall
abound, the love of many shall grow cold. The illusion is so much that the
churches even conduct gay marriages. Everyone wants to have hummer jeep,
want to live a sophisticated life, and so every mind of even a youth is
engrossed with how to make the first million and billions. People have gone to
the extent of using there children, wife for rituals. One of the dailies recently
reveals a man who wanted to sell his own baby for one hundred and twenty
thousand. The fear of tomorrow and the anxiety of what we want to be have
made the entire world forget about the coming of Christ.

4. Until the Gospel is preached throughout: Matthew 24:14 and this gospel of
the kingdom shall be preached in the entire world for a witness unto all
nations; and then shall the end come. The argument here is that what gives us
the assurance that the gospel will be preached throughout the world. When
some part in Asia do not even allow Christians to live in there community.
Indian just finished killing and burning churches. During the tsunami’s crises,
the Christians were not affected because they normally send them away during
the Christmas period to a particular hill. Some northern part in Nigerian like
Kano will rather die in there troubles than allowing an evangelist like

 Reinnard Bonke into there community. Quite a number of missionaries are
discouraged and back home.

5. Signs of the time: Jesus puts forth a series of signs and prediction; Wars,
earthquakes, famine, false messiahs all culminating in the “Sign of the Son of
Man” in heaven, followed by His long promised return, (Matt: 24: 30).
There have been no shortage of amateur exegetes who have always sought
(and, predictably, found) these very same signs in these in their own
generation. Thus assured that the Return of Jesus was just around the corner, a
whole slew of silliness has ensued, all the way from William Miller`s
wretched followers awaiting Jesus on their roof tops, to Miller`s modern
counterparts, Jack Van Impe, John Hagee, Hal Lindsey and a whole array of
earnest soothsayers, breathlessly exhorting their wide -eyed followers to stand
firm, for the hour is now upon us. What makes this situation even more ironic
is that it can be easily shown from this same proof – text that Jesus will not
return.

6. Human understanding: If he has gone to prepare a place, why will the

heaven come down again? Where is even the hell fire? What about the law of
projection (whatever goes up must come down)? These are the questions that
people keep asking and concluded that Jesus will not come back.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these
things are fulfilled.
1 Thessalonians 4:15 – 17 “... For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout... Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air...” 1 Corinthians 15: 51, 52 “...
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of
an eye, at the last trump...”
Can we say Jesus is not coming anymore since no one is ready? The truth is a jot out
of His word will not go unfulfilled.
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
JUST BE PREPARED SO THAT YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UNAWARE!!!
