The Xenta 300 is applied to the control of the full spectrum of HVAC and other facility equipment. The control of this equipment may be part of an automated or manual smoke control response.

Alarm Input Application

The Xenta 300 can be used to receive zone alarm signals from a listed Fire Alarm Panel (FAP) in the form of contact closures. In this application the Xenta 300 must be located within 20ft of the FAP and connected in conduit.

The Xenta 300 series controllers are UL Listed (UL864) for application in a TAC Smoke Control System. This data sheet provides information, instructions and restrictions pertaining to the proper application of this specific product in a smoke control system. This data sheet takes precedence over other general product installation and application information for the Xenta 300 and must be used in conjunction with the Smoke Control Systems Manual (0-004-7897-1). The manual provides a system level view of the smoke control application and provides additional information regarding the various products that can be interconnected to form a system.

I/O Option Modules

In addition to the local I/O on the controller, the Xenta 300 control programming can manage the external I/O provided by up to two I/O expansion modules. These UL864 listed I/O modules are connected with the Xenta 300 via the LON network and the following table lists the approved option modules: Description Model 411 10 DI Discrete Inputs 412 Same as 411 with LED status display 421A 4 UI Universal Inputs and 5 DO Discrete Outputs (relay) 422A Same as 421A with DI LED status display and DO indicators and switch overrides 451A 8 UI Universal Inputs, 2 AO Analog Outputs (0-10V) 452A Same as 451A with DI LED status display1 and AO override controls 471 8 UI Universal Inputs2 491 8 AO Analog Outputs (0-10V) 492 Same as 491 with AO overrides

General Application
The Xenta 300 belongs to a family of freely programmable controllers designed for small and medium sized heating and air handling systems. The Xenta 300 controller provides a complete collection of full HVAC control and management functionality including DDC control loops, process monitoring, time scheduling, alarm handling, etc. Two models of the Xenta 300 series controller are offered with differing output configurations (Xenta 301 & Xenta 302). A variety of separate I/O expansion modules may be added to the Xenta 300 as required to address the control application. The modules which are UL864 listed and approved for application with the Xenta 300 are listed in the table to the right. The TAC Xenta 300 controller is simple to program, install and commission, using the graphical engineering tool TAC Menta. The controller communicates on a LONTALK TP/FT-10 free-topology network via a twistedpair, polarity insensitive cable.

Controller Network Communications

The Xenta 300 controllers communicate with each other using a common network, LonWorks TP/FT-10, 78Kbps LON (Local Operating Network). The LON communications to Xenta 300 is supervised from the FSCS controller.
Shield Twisted Pair C1 C2 Splice

LON Network Integrity

In smoke control applications, the LON network communications cable may only interconnect products which are also UL864 listed. The smoke control system manual identifies the other TAC and 3rd party products that may be interconnected in the smoke control system with the Xenta 300. Communications integrity to/from the Xenta 300 controller and other controllers participating in smoke control should be supervised by the FSCS controller. The FSCS should be configured to enunciate any communications faults detected in the connectivity with the controllers used in the smoke control application.

Enclosure
Rating: Type 3, Max: 5V, .1A, Power Limited, 8850ft @ 16awg cable. See smoke control system manual for table of cable and distance specifications. The Xenta 300 controller is housed within a plastic enclosure and must be plugged into an Xenta 300 mounting base (Part # 074-0901-x) ordered separately. To simplify installation, the mounting base can be premounted using mounting holes in the base, or snapped onto standard TS 35mm DIN rail (EN50022) and should be installed within one of the ENCL-.. series enclosures designated in the smoke control system manual.

RS232 and OP Ports

The Xenta 300 controllers provide an RS232 port (RJ45 modular jack) for communications with a local directly connected Vista/Menta Host PC. This allows monitoring and maintenance mode operations to be performed without disturbing LON communications. The 0-0730920 serial cable kit includes the RJ45 cable and D-Sub adapter for this connection. The Xenta 300 controllers provide a port for optional communications with an OP Panel. The OP panel can mount on the face of the Xenta 300. The OP provides a 4 line LCD display and membrane keypad and can be custom configured to provide display and adjustment of selected control and process parameters in the controller. Neither the RS232 port or the OP Panel port are used to transport smoke control command operations and do not require supervision from the FSCS. Equipment connected to RS232 port (PC or Modem) must be UL Listed.

Operating Environment
Operating Temperature: 32 to120oF (0 to 49oC) Storage Temperature: -4 to122oF (-20 to 50oC) Humidity: max. 93% RH non-condensing Dry - Indoor

Power
The Xenta 300 controller should be powered by one of the Class-2 24VAC transformers listed in the smoke control system manual. Power Input: 24VAC +-10% 60 Hz @ 10VA Max.

All inputs and outputs except relay output contacts are Power Limited.
