She is joined by a jazz ensemble for her first-ever concert at Sonoma State Universitys Green Music Center, part of the 2013-14 MasterCard Performance Series. She made her Broadway debut in 1992 while still in school at Juilliard. By 1994 she had earned her first Tony Award, and after the success of Ragtime in 1998, McDonald became the first person under the age of thirty to receive three Tony Awards. McDonalds ensuing career has been a showcase of artistic talent and range, receiving critical acclaim for her work in Broadway, film, television, and as a recording artist. at the White House, for which McDonald sang at the request of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. In September 2013, McDonald opened the 102nd season of the San Francisco Symphony alongside Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, while simultaneously kicking-off her North American concert tour. Throughout her five-month circuit of the United States and Canada, she will treat audiences to songs from her recently released album, Go Back Home, which features works by notable composers including Sondheim, and Rodgers & Hammerstein.
