SOFTWARE: Cooling Load Formulas - Version 1 Copyright 2008 by HVAC Prime Source. All rights reserved. See Disclaimer below PURPOSE To determine sensible, latent and total cooling load from air flow and temperature conditions. REQUIREMENT: MS Office software, and basic knowledge of Excel INSTRUCTIONS 1 Input the values in the green cells and the corresponding sensible load, latent load, and total cooling load will be calculated in the white cell. 2 Conversely, one of the other variables in the formula can be calculated in the cells below, by providing input for the remaining variables in the green cells. 3 All the units are in FPS system 4 Following are the abbreviations used SCFM Standard cubic feet/minute (flow at 70 F and sea level pressure) Tsa Supply air temp F Trm Room air temp F Wsa Supply air moisture (grains/Lb of dry air) Wrm Room air moisture (grains/Lb of dry air) Has Supply air enthalpy (Btu/Lb of dry air and associated moisture) Hrm Room air enthalpy (Btu/Lb of dry air and associated moisture) SH = Sensible Heat Load, Btuh LH = Latent Heat Load, Btuh TH = Total Heat Load, Btuh TH = SH + LH REFERENCES 1 Carrier Handbook of Air Condioning System Design, 1965 DISCLAIMER The user shall use this software at his or her discretion, and hereby relieves HVAC Prime Source of any liabilities.
