This responsibility includes placement of guards and other safety equipment, instruction to operators and other personnel in contact with the machinery, and ‘operation in compliance with applicable health and safety Jaws, regulations and general standards of reasonable care. NOTE This manual makes some reference to maintenance inspections and procedures. While maintenance is not typically a safety con- cer, machinery that is maintained and in proper working condi- ‘ton will minimize the occurrence of emergency situations which could become a safety hazard. Otten maintenance inspections and routine maintenance such as lubrication, can be conducted at the same time as a safety in- spection. This procedure will aid in establishing a proper service routing, it wil aiso cause gains in efficiency of machine operation. Each machine model will have its own maintenance, operation and parts manuals which will detail specific service points and conditions.
