"EAE4 GEAR
T=o important concept in !earin! are pitch s;rface an8 pitch an! e. The pitch s;rface of an or8inar9 !ear is in the shape of a c9 in8er. The pitch an! e of a !ear is the an! e 5et=een the face of the pitch s;rface an8 the aBis.

SADD4E
The saddle moves away from the column along the guide ways provided on the base.

RA. AND TOO4 HEAD

The ram reciprocates along the guide way produced on the face of the column. The ram has a tool head. The cutting tool is fitted in the tool head.

CRAN,
It is a rotatin! or s i8in! piece in a mechanica in<a!e ;se8 especia 9 in transformin! rotar9 motion in to inear motion or 7ice 7ersa. The cam is ;se8 to 8e i7er p; ses of po=er to cran< shaft.

CRAN, SHA1T
Connecting rods converts rotating motion in to linear motion. As a connecting rod is rigid. It may transmit either a push or a pull and so the rod may rotate the crank through both halves of a revolution

WORKING
The slotting machine consists of straight bevel gear. Which receive motion from the driving unit. The driving unit must be controlled by speed controlling system. This provided the various feed speed rate. The straight bevel gear motion directly transmits to the crank in transverse direction of the input. The crank mechanism is used to control the feed rate. The crank rotation makes reciprocating motion to the crankshaft. The crank shaft receive motion from the crank and provided to the tool arrangement. All arrangements were supported by bearing linkage. Bearing linkage help to support all the parts and limiting all rotating parts The crankshaft end connect to the tool arrangement by welding. Hence tool moves vertically in upward and down ward direction. In this the bevel gear and crank mechanism reduces the noise and also reduce the wear forces.

ADVANTAGES

The number of component is less The operation is less noise Can able to achieve more accuracy in operation ess power input source is re!uired ess maintenance Can able to modify by programmable control system Cost of production of machinery is less Incredible depth can be achieve "imple working principle "imple control system

APPLICATIONS

#eyways in the boss of a pulley or gear can be machined without resorting to a dedicated broaching setup. $ovetail slides Internal splines #eyway cutting in blind holes Cam drums with tool paths of the type that in C%C milling terms would re!uire &' or ('a)is contouring or turn'mill cylindrical interpolation It is even possible to obviate wire*$+ work in some cases. "tarting from a drilled or cored hole, a shaper with a boring'bar type tool can cut internal features that don-t lend themselves to milling or boring .such as irregularly shaped holes with tight corners/.
