Introduction King Ed !"d #II $%&''( is a premier and one of the oldest boys school in Malaysia. The official logo for the school is that the tiger stripes, or better known as the Tiger of Malaya. The school is known as the 'EDW !D" #$' whilst also known by the title 'T"%E!$'. &'ly 1(() with the establishment of the *entral $chool or *enter $chool, This establishment is a res'lt of the rapid de+elopment of tin mining, partic'larly in the ,am'nting. $tarting with only 1) st'dents in &'ly 1(() that n'mber grew to -- people at the end of 1((.. 2!Interview Report ">+e choose the chairman of The Cld Edwardian (3) ssociation from Taiping, /erak. <e is Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen as inter+iewee for the co'rsework English *omm'nication 2. The inter+iew was cond'cted at the $tarb'ck *offee o'tlets as he reH'ested as he did not want the session to be too official. *ond'cted on May 23, 2411 from 11.44 a.m. to 12.44 p.m. The inter+iew took abo't 1 ho'r. Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen is a +ery friendly person and willing to share his e?periences and s'ccess with me. The inter+iew also gi+es me a chance to really talk to my local comm'nity contrib'tor. "t seems likeI ">+e gained a lot of information and ad+ice from him. The inter+iew co+ers some of history of life, ed'cation, e?perience, opinions, +isions and others associated with him. <e was +ery e?cited to share all his e?periences and opinions with me. Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen calmly answers my H'estions that lead me not to hesitate to ask more H'estions to him. "t was an en7oying moment for to me inter+iewed him. s an e?Jst'dent of this prestigio's school, Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen is a ci+il society person who has contrib'ted m'ch to o'r society in areas of health, en+ironment, h'man rights and social ethics. Deeply concerned abo't the local teenage social problems, especially those who were the Cld and Ko'ng Edwardians 1the one that still in school2I he has stri+ed to and has s'cceeded in bringing these matters to local attention since the 2444s. . $ince he feel responsible for protecting these st'dents, in later on he fo'nded the Cld Edwardian (3) ssociation where also known as the CE(3) specially for the e?Jst'dent from the year 13(3 to 133) with only the intention 7'st to gather as many as possible his old friends and the rest is history. "t's hard to imagine Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen as a shy teenager back then. 9't the bright, selfJpossessed )-JyearJold teacher says he wo'ld not be who he is if he hadn't had a school like the ,ing Edward 0"" $chool to g'ide him thro'gh to'gh times 1he did not came from a wealthy family2. The Cld Edwardian (3) ssociation, a TaipingJbased al'mn's started off as a dropJin center in 2444 and has since grown to pro+ide co'nseling, t'toring and

afterJschool programming to st'dents. Mohd 6air'B, who has been with the association for 14 years, has seen Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen thro'gh becoming teenagers, college grad'ate and now as a +ol'ntary *hairman of The Cld Edwardian (3) ssociation, leading 'rempit ' and smoking pre+ention workshops. s a teacher he feels that it became his obligation to sa+e the yo'ng Edwardians from these =diseases>. 6or Encik Mohd li 9in Mohi'deen, the s'ccess of the association comes down to the deep connections they ha+e made with the Cld Edwardian ssociation Malaysia and the comm'nity 1mostly the st'dents family2 itself. The foc's has always been on ser+ing as a healthy recreational center, seeing h'ndreds of st'dents thro'gh financial and emotional hard times. 6'nded thro'gh a combination of nonJgo+ernment organiBation, fo'ndation and indi+id'al donations, The Cld Edwardian (3) ssociation pro+ides free, allJp'rpose programming, from literacy to comm'nity leadership training. Therefore, there>s a lot of stress to the parents to pro+ide good family atmosphere. 9't l'ckily o'r locals, that lo+e a'sterity lifestyle still doesn>t change that m'ch. That is why many o'tsiders came to Taiping and said the food is still cheap.

We thri+e off of who we are as a people, bettering o'rsel+es and making things happen despite being faced with to'gh challenges. We>+e also been at it for a H'ite some time. ">+e been here 14 years and we>+e been s'ccessf'l for o+er ) years. We always come to the table with fresh ideas on how to reach parents, st'dents and teachers. The longe+ity of o'r +ol'nteer makes 's different as well. E+eryone has something 'niH'e that they bring to the table.

There's low tolerance for negati+e beha+ior here.
