PAL SARKOZY:
eine Lebensgeschichte

Pal Sarkozy in Paris, seine Terrase und Skulptur TWO FOR ONE.

Sicherlich wird seine Lebensgeschichte irgendwann verfilmt. Und sicherlich wird dieser spannende Abenteuerfilm ein Erfolg. Nachfahre einer ungarischen Adelsfamilie, Fremdenlegionr, Geschftsmann, Vater von fnf Kindern (darunter einer der populrsten franzsischen Prsidenten), Knstler, Schriftsteller sein Leben ist tatschlich leinwandreif.

Pl Istvn Ern Nagybcsai Srkzy (Srkzy von Nagybcsa, Sarkzy de Nagy-Bocsa) kam 1928 in Budapest zu Welt. Seine Familie gehrte zum ungarischen Adel, deren Ursprnge zurck bis 1628 reichen, als ihr Kaiser Ferdinand II., Knig von Bhmen und Ungarn, den Adelstitel verlieh. 1944, mit Ankunft der Roten Armee, oh Pal nach Westeuropa. Nach zahlreichen Abenteuern in sterreich und einer kurzzeitigen Rckkehr in seine Heimat, kam der junge Sarkozy 1946 nach Baden-Baden, wo er sich in die franzsische Fremdenlegion rekrutieren lies. Sarkozy diente in Algerien, aber 1948 verlie er die Legion, weil er nicht an dem blutigen Krieg in Indochina teilnehmen wollte. Er lie sich in Marseille nieder, zog aber schon bald nach Paris. Von nun an ging es fr den knftigen Vater des franzsischen Prsidenten nur noch bergauf. Im Jahr 1950 heiratete er Andre Mallah (Andrye Mallah)

Ich malte mein ganzes Leben lang, von der Kindheit an. Es begann alles mit den Wnden in dem Zimmer, wo ich schlief. Mit sechs Jahren, in der Schule, entdeckte ich die Kreide. Dann begann ich mich fr die Skulptur zu interessieren. Allerdings habe ich es nie geschafft, dies wirklich zu lernen... Nun habe ich eine groe Wohnung auf Ibiza, wo ich den ganzen Sommer lang male.

Jurastudentin und die Tochter des bekannten Arztes, der im respektablen 17. Arrondissement praktizierte. Das Paar bekam drei Shne: Guillaume (1952), Nicolas (1955) und Francois (1957). Diese Ehe blieb nicht die einzige. Heute lebt Pal Sarkozy mit seiner vierten Frau, Ines, die er 1970 heiratete. Jahre spter beschrieb Sarkozy seine erste Zeit in Paris: Es habe 15 Tage gebraucht, um einen Job zu nden, ein Jahr, um eine Ehe zu schlieen, und zehn Jahre, um Vater von drei Kindern zu werden und mein eigenes Business auf die Beine zu stellen. Im Jahr 1960 grndete er seine eigene Werbeagentur Studio Sarkozy. Die Firma bringt ihm Millionen. Zu Beginn des neuen Jahrhunderts, wird er sie aufgeben, um sich endlich der Kunst zu widmen. Im Jahr 2004 fand die erste Ausstellung des Knstlers statt, damals noch mit Werner Hornung. Seitdem zhlt sein Portfolio ber 18 Ausstellungen weltweit. Im Jahr 2010 erschien sein autobiographisches Buch Tant de vie. Im September 2011 fand in der Moskauer Tsereteli Art Gallery die Retrospektive Bewusstlos statt eine Ausstellung gemeinsamer Werke von Pal Sarkozy und Werner Hornung. Diese Kooperation, die als digitale Kunst deniert wurde, war in vielen kulturellen Hauptstdten der Welt von Amsterdam bis Madrid ausgestellt.

All die Jahre werden meine Bilder immer weltweit ausgestellt in Monaco, auf Ibiza, in Madrid, Moskau, Budapest. Mein erster Gedanke, als mein Sohn die Prsidentenwahl gewonnen hatte, war Ich kam in dieses Land als Flchtling, und jetzt ist mein Sohn der Prsident diese Landes. Zurab Tsereteli habe ich in Ungarn kennen gelernt. Er hat mich nach Moskau eingeladen. Dort wurde mir der Ehrentitel der Russischen Kunstakademie verliehen. Von Moskau aus gingen meine Bilder nach China und Buenos Aires. Als ich nach Paris kam, musste ich auf der Strasse schlafen ohne Geld, ohne Arbeit. Ich war ein Flchtling. Und 2007 wurde mein Sohn zum Prsidenten dieses Landes gewhlt. Pal Sarkozy

I created this gallery out of habitual patterns and commercial criteria; it is both a creative space for artists and a meeting place. Hence the choice of the site, factory territory near the railroad tracks. Unusual place that ts perfectly with the message that art can and wants to convey, break codes, undermining the established order. It can have no exposure limit and no space constraints, a new dimension in art exhibit art without scenic limit. ATELIER TERMINAL GALLERY is born from a passion for art but also the desire to honor, encourage, defend, expose and staging the work of emerging artists that illustrate the upcoming Art of the XXI century. I want to come back to the gesture of the artist, the uniqueness, the temperament, the background behind the form. I feel today in art, everyone follows everyone. Instead, I want to show artists capable of achieving the A to Z their works. The trigger was caused by my encounter with BRUCE, a metal sculptor. It was a revelation for me, it guided me in the desire to create my gallery, in the message I wanted to get across and in the type of artist I wanted to defend. My gallery is not really a gallery in the proper sense of the word, it is primarily a place where artists

can feel at home and where art is accessible even to those who are not collectors or professional. My relationship with art is very special. Art is My Life, I get up to Art, I eat Art, I dine Art, I sleep Art, I breathe Art. Art is part of me. It is a devouring passion. The most important thing in my work is that a relationship of trust is established between the artist and me. I am very touched when an artist, without knowing me, tells me about his babies (the nickname I give to works), to defend his soul. Its always very moving. I want the artist to feel free; I never inuence his creativity. Im here for their talent and for their expertise to be recognized. I do not have a preference for an artists style. I work with my heart but also with the knowledge that the artist has made me discover. All styles of art please me whatever the art brut, painting, sculpture, and abstract art. All types of art have their place in my gallery. Moreover, it is also one of the peculiarities of my gallery to have artists, both completely dierent but ultimately end up this complementing each other by their dierence. Proof is with the two artists that I represent at this time, the sculptor BRUCE playing with metal on metal paintings in opposition to the painter Pal SARKOZY playing with colors.

BRUCE
The sculptor
The life of the sculptor BRUCE, born in 1963 is divided between his workshop Petite Grenade in Martinique French West Indies (FWI) and his workshop in Seine Saint Denis in Paris. This epic character spent his childhood and adolescence in Martinique FWI(his birthplace), New York and the Burgundy countryside. Bruce living and working on Martinique in his impressive laboratory of dreams on the peninsula of Little Granada, built for a decade works that were hypersensitive, singular densely poetic, combined with a total physical commitment. Each piece is the result of a melee, technique-won, a dialogue of passion with raw metal, archaic or modern, compressed, smooth or rough. Bruce created with intuition an absolute sense of general equilibrium but also a rare unreleased passion. Self-taught, BRUCE started working at the age of 17 after the death of his father. Opposed to all form of codied studies, he acquired his training in metallurgical plants and construction workshops before nally approaching the metal sculpture. He won his creative freedom as his work as an artist gave form to his phantasmagoria revealing a fresh look at METALLIK ART. He triggers a real liberation aesthetics of the metal, using recycled materials. For BRUCE, inspiration springs from instinctive spontaneity between gesture and material that allows it to sculpt the metal, giving it a second life and infusing it with a soul. His Atelier in Martinique is at the heart of magnicent nature itself and is also a work of art.

Lights, rain, wind, everything is there providing a particular experience. The works created there have their own ambience. He noticed afterwards that those made in Noisy le Sec are dierent. He works metal spontaneously, without a plan, without a model, isolated in this wild place. He draws on the earth, the sea, and the wind energy for the necessary impetus for these works. His mind changes the pieces faster than he can as his hands move slowly. His work is as a messenger who does not speak. Some works fascinate him; it is as if he was creating a machine. Each piece, is thought about, worked on and created. The complexity has become a game that is exhausting but delicious. When, at the end of the day, work has worn him out (some pieces can take 200 hours to complete), he takes a dip in the sea. He cleanses himself of all the hallmarks of his workshop, which can also be a place of suering.
