9.00am 1pm At Bio City

The One Nottingham Autumn Forum will focus on Green Employment in Nottingham.

Stir up a Conversa- 4 tion

Together with the Nottingham Green Partnership, we will be asking how we can secure good growth and green growth for the City through sustainable, efficient investment in order to develop a green employment future. Nottingham now has a growth strategy and One Nottingham champions Good Growth. The ON Board defined good growth as: Local jobs, skills and local procurement when ever possible Sustainable long term investments which generate long term benefits for Nottingham communities and Sustainable wherever possible investment should be low carbon usage But can this approach generate local employment and local green jobs? This forum will give us an opportunity to consider the issue. It is a chance to hear some good examples of green development in Nottingham, to consider opportunities ahead of us and a local, Nottingham way forward. Nottingham Awards Recognise City Unsung Heroes

The annual Nottingham Awards were held at the Council House in Old Market Square on 3 October 2013. The awards recognised people who have made a remarkable and lasting impact on the city and have not been previously recognised for their achievement. The award for the contribution to Nottingham from the private sector went to Dr Glenn Crocker, Chief Executive of Bio City, which has grown to be the largest bioscience incubator in the UK. BioCity creates and provides investment, facilities and support to early stage life science companies and has

It is fitting that he got his award during the Goose Fair as one of his most recent achievements was leading the regeneration of the Forest Recreation Ground. Dr Gillian Burton won the public sector award. She was employed in Community Paediatrics in inner city Nottingham from 1995 until her retirement in 2011. She is known and highly respected for her work in Nottingham schools, with refugees and with families in which English is not the first language. She continues to volunteer for St Stephens in Hyson Green, where she helps with fundraising, sings in the choir, and has worked with homeless people on behalf of the Rainbow Project. Dr Burton is valued enormously by colleagues and all the families she worked with. Courtney and Trevor Rose won the voluntary sector award as they have qui-

recently opened a second base in Scotland. It also provides advice to other bioscience centres around the world. Jim Taylor won the public service award for his work and advocacy for Nottingham which spanned his entire professional career and retirement.
