Ms. Sujaya Banerjee, Chief Learning Officer, Essar Investments Limited Talent is a recurring pattern of thought, feeling or behaviour that has the potential to be productively applied and Employability refers to a persons capability for gaining and maintaining employment through the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) they possess and the way they present those assets to employers. The right talent can be made available for the Industry only through an intimate, meaningful partnership. This partnership is especially more dear to petroleum industry due to growing shortage of skilled personnel, changing technical demand and increasing activity levels. Ms. Dipti Sanzgiri, Executive Director (HRD), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) Ms. Dipti Sanzgiri commenced her key note address on Skills Required to Work in a Synergy Team by contradicting with the prevalent terminology of addressing employees as human resource, human asset or human capital. Organizations need to understand and appreciate the capacity of human beings to create surprising results through creativity and innovation. The presentation was concluded on the necessity of engaging individuals into the environment and to constructively channelize the difference between the mind-set of the existing workforce and the new workforce. Shri P.K. Joshi, Director (HR), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) Shri P. K. Joshi, the Chief Guest for the event, began his address by highlighting that the correct composition of human resource provides a competitive edge to an organization. The industryacademia can share various behavioral competency frameworks to create a comprehensive skill-set. The address was concluded by urging students to develop differentiating behavioral competencies by supplementing their emotional self-awareness by Emotional Quotient (EQ) in addition to Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and thereby, become a composite offering for the industry. Shri D.J. Pandian IAS, Principal Secretary, Energy & Petrochemical Dept., Government of Gujarat Shri D. J. Pandian was the Chief Guest of Honor for the conclave. Indicating the prevalent lack of sensitivity to group dynamism, it was elaborated how the inability of individuals to read human minds makes all HR endeavors of remuneration, training and induction of little use. It was also commented that outsourced employees too should be considered an integral part of the company as recognition for their efforts. The address concluded on a congratulatory note for organizing the discussion forum by bringing in industry stalwarts and that the University should continue these endeavors to create more value from industry interaction.
