5 DAY WINTER PROGRAMME

Nestled in the Serramonacesca foothills of the Majella National Park (the wild heart of Italy), Kokopelli gives you the perfect spot for exploring the winter wonderland of the Mother Mountain in all its guises as it moves through winter into spring. Daytimes will be spent in the mountains and foothills of the Majella (61 peaks over 2000m), following the ancient trails and spiritual paths of the monks, hermits and brigands. Included in the programme will be self-guided hikes, accompanied snowshoeing excursions and opportunities to shop in the local villages and markets. Evenings will be spent with the locals in the bars and restaurants in and around Serramonacesca. Optional extras: Ski taster (1hr lesson, ski hire, lift pass, transfers): !50 per person Xmas lunch: !30 per person, including all food, drink & merry-making Boxing Day/New Years Day group snowshoeing excursion up to a mountain rifugio for sausages & polenta: !25 per person New Years Eve in a VW Camper 850m asl, campre cooking & amazing panoramic views over the mountains and sea as Abruzzo erupts into a rework extravaganza!: !25 per person

Example Itinerary Day 1: Transfer from Chieti or Pescara, Accompanied hike/snowshoe to the eremo of San Onofrio & the Piano dei Ginepro. Day 2: Self-guided hike/snowshoe to the Alento river via the Torre Polegra and the Abbey & tombs of San Liberatore. Early evening visit to medieval town of Guardiagrele Day 3: Accompanied snowshoeing excursion to the higher peaks of the Majella Day 4: Morning ski taster at Passo Lanciano, followed by ski lodge lunch in front of an open re; snowshoeing or sledging in the afternoon 5: Holiday ends after breakfast. Return transfer to Chieti or Pescara

THE BARN ROOM (sleeps 4*) Spacious converted barn with high ceilings and chandelier. One large double bed, plus two small singles. Leading out onto a large terrace with spectacular views across the hills of the Majella to the peaks of the Gran Sasso. Showers and toilets are a short distance away (20m). HOW TO ARRIVE: The nearest airport of Pescara is only a short 35 minute drive, with transfer to and from included in the price. Pescara is fed internationally from London Stansted, Brussels Charleroi, Dusseldorf Weeze, Frankfurt Hahn, Girona Barcelona, Oslo Torp, Paris Beauvais. Rome (either Ciampino or Fiumicino airports) has a greater selection of times and ights. There are frequent coaches from Rome to Chieti which only take 2.5 hours and are only around !15. Chieti is a short 25 minute drive and transfer to and from is included in the price.

WHO WE ARE: Four years ago we opted out of corporate life, sold up and took ourselves off across Europe in our old VW Campervan to seek out a place where our passion for the great outdoors could be satised amongst warm people and old traditions. We found it in South-Central Italy, in Serramonacesca, a tiny little corner of rural Abruzzo that falls within the protective arms of the Majella National Park. It is here that Kokopelli was born for you to come and explore the changing seasons with us.
