Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

This can be a very fun class to teach. You can plan a lot of fun and different activities for the students. You can help students learn life skills and how to succeed in society. Also from teaching these classes you will have the chance to interact with the students more.

There have been numerous events that have led to the formation of Family and Consumer Science to become what it is today. It is a department that combines the five areas taught at UNA: Child Development, Merchandising, Culinary Arts, Interior Design, and Foods and Nutrition into one concentration. Educators of FCS teach students life skills that help them pursue careers in each of our areas. It takes a special person to inspire students to achieve the skills that are taught in FCS, and each one of us are ready for the challenge set before us.
