Reminder about the importance of the installation of the external front flap of the removable tubes, in accordance with the instructions of the owners manual
Further to some problems observed on customers boats, As a precautionary measure, we draw your attention and remind you about the importance of the correct fitting of the installation of the external front flap of the removable tubes. This flap has a major function in the mechanical holding of the tube to the hull. Its failure (ripping, tearing off, coming apart) may lead to an untimely partial or even complete separation of the tube from the hull, thus reducing the floatation reserve beyond the required minimum to ensure the security of the boat. We recommend that you inform your customers of the importance of this control.

Summary of the instructions

1. Engage the tube in its rail Adjust its position by checking that there is no space between the inside of the tubes nose and the hull 2. Inflate the tube to its nominal service pressure (240mbar) 3. Fix the external front flap to the bow chain plate 4. Adjust the length of the strap by pulling gently Note : Check or have checked periodically (every year at least) the condition of the front flap and the tension of the strap of the external front flap Read carefullly the instructions of the owners manual provided with the boat

Next, as an example, an extract of the installation instructions of the Medline 650 owners manual

Installing the tube on the hull

Pull the tubes first tab towards the aft end of the boat. Repeat the action for the other side of the tube. The two front flaps (sealing and external) must pass over the hulls hose. Fix the sealing front flap to the hull using screws and fabric washers. Raise the tubes nose. Bring forward the tubes nose in order to pull the external front flap under the hulls nose. It is important to have both sides of the tube correctly pulled towards the aft end as well as to have them centered in relation to the center line of the hull. Slightly inflate the tubes nose to check that it is correctly centered and perfectly hugs the hull. Restart the process if the tube is not correctly positioned.

Fix the internal front flap (screws and washers)

After fixing the internal front flap on the hull, gently pull the tube towards the front in order to slip the external front flap over the front nose (do not fix it at this point). Then pull the tube towards the aft end. IMPORTANT : The final fixing of the external front flap must be done after the tube has been inflated.
