Journal week 1
In the 27th-Octber-2013, I and my friend Asma took the training letter to the school, we explained for the principle that we will start the teaching practice in the next week. We faced a problem, but we were able to fix it. Which was our teacher was very busy, she completes her studies and she teaches all the class in the school. So, she thought that she will have a lot of responsible if we training with her. We explained what she has to do and describe for her what we will do during this three week. In the next week, we started our teaching practice in Al Sheikah Mahrah Bint Ahmed School. During this week I spent the time observed the teachers method to explain the lesson; especially the projector didnt work, so I focused on how she fixed this problem and the way that she used to make the lesson clear for students. For example, teacher let students to set in small group and explain the lesson for them. According to Vygotskys reciprocal teaching, which mean teacher can deal with few students about two or four students, they can collabrate, discuss and have a dialogues(Lightbrown,P.M, Spada,N,2004,P.24). From that student will achieve and put on the questioning, summarizing, clarifying and predicting( Berk, L. E., 2009, Pp.265-269). In addition, I noticed the technique that teacher used to control the class and manages misbehavior. For instance, she moved around the class, between the tables and be near students to helps students or avoid their misbehavior. According to Kyriacou, there are a lot of effective strategies to deal with misbehavior. First of all, teacher has to move around the classroom to help students if they have need any help or have any problems. Second, teacher has to move near children when they were talking or doing any things not related to the lesson to stop them. Third, teacher has to use different kind of activities, to make students active and dont feel boring. Finally, she also be near the student when she felt the student started misbehave to stopped her (Kyriacou, 2007, PP.9091). Moreover, through this week, I moved around the school and I discovered it. And I started took a pictures for the school. Furthermore, I worked in the task one, by research about different displays to describe it and how its useful for students.
