1. Scroll the project timeline so that the playhead (the red vertical line) appears where you want to add a photo or video clip. 2. Tap the Photos button or the Video button a. Photo: Tap Camera Roll, Photo Library, or an album, then tap the photo you want to add. b. Video: To add an entire clip to your project, tap the clip, then tap the blue arrow to add it to your project.

Note: If you cannot see any pictures or videos in iMovie 1. Click the iPad Home Button 2. Click SettingsPrivacyPhotosSlide iMovie to On

Undo or redo

Do either of the following: o Shake your device, then tap Undo or Redo. o Tap the Undo button . To redo the action, tap and hold the Undo button, then tap Redo in the pop-up menu. Tap outside the menu to close it.

Zoom in or out: In the center of the timeline, pinch in or out to see more or less clips. Zooming does not affect the
duration of the clips.

Quickly navigate to the beginning or end of the timeline

Move the playhead to the o Beginning of the project: Tap and hold the left end of the timeline, where the video meets the edge of your screen. o End of the project: Tap and hold the right end of the timeline, where the video meets the edge of your screen.

Preview an image
1. In landscape orientation, Touch and hold the photo in the Photo browser until it appears in the viewer on the right. 2. In portrait orientation, touch and hold the photo in the Photo browser until it appears in the pop-up viewer

Edit a photo
1. Tap the photo you want to adjust. Use the yellow handles to shorten or lengthen the photo 2. Ken Burns effect a. To set which part of the photo is showing when the photo appears, i. Zoom in or out or move the picture to the desired location ii. Tap the Start button b. To set which part of the photo is showing at the end of the Ken Burns effect, i. Zoom in or out or move the picture to the desired location ii. Tap the End button c. Tap Done. Note: To disable the Ken Burns effect for a photo, set the image position and zoom level to be identical for the start and end points.

Split a clip
1. Scroll the project timeline to position the playhead (the red vertical line) where you want to split a video clip. 2. Tap the video clip (it becomes outlined in yellow) 3. Swipe down over the playhead to split the clip, as if you were using your finger to slice through it. Note: iMovie inserts a cut transition (called None in iMovie and represented by this icon created clips. ), between the two newly

Add a freeze frame: Create a freeze frame from any frame of a video clip in a project for a dramatic effect.
1. Scroll the project timeline to position the playhead (the red vertical line) over the frame of video that you want to appear in the freeze frame. 2. Tap the video clip (it becomes outlined in yellow) 3. Swipe up over the playhead.
Note: Cut transitions are added before and after the freeze frame. By default, the freeze frame is set to show for 2 seconds and can be adjusted.

Modify a transition

Music
1. Tap the Audio button 2. Tap Theme Music or Sound Effects a. Tap the play button to preview the file b. Tap any one of the audio files to add it to your project 3. To adjust the volume of the audio a. Double-tap the Audio Clip b. Drag the volume slider right or left. 4. To help set the desired volume level, tap the Waveform button a. Yellow Peaks indicates that the audio is just above the ideal range of volume b. Red indicates that audio is too loud and potentially distorted 5. Adjust length of the music a. Tap the audio file b. Use the Yellow handles to increase or decrease the length. c. If you do not see Yellow handles, tap the Project Settings button in the upper-right corner of the screen, then turn Loop Background Music on or off. 6. Tap outside the Project Settings window to close it.

Finalizing the Video


1. Return to the main screen a. Press the Share online button b. Press Camera Roll c. Select Export Size (HD-720p) 2. Movie is saved to the camera roll Once the Movie is saved to the camera roll, any photo or video that is used in the movie can be deleted without affecting the finalized video.
