Program Name: Great Storms of the Chesapeake by David Healey Program Description: In the last 400 years, the Chesapeake Bay has weathered its share of legendary
hurricanes, gales, fogs and freezes, from the first squall encountered by Captain John Smith in 1608 to the Great Eastern Blizzard of 1899 to Tropical Storm Agnes and beyond. Join author David Healey for a talk and slide presentation as he keeps an eye on the horizon and chronicles the human stories behind the region's most remarkable weather history during "Great Storms of the Chesapeake" at the Perryville Branch Library.

Before Program:
Submit completed program planner to Branch Manager. Create an event in the Evanced system. Reserve meeting room and necessary equipment. Have Presenters Agreement signed by presenter (if applicable). Calculate and track expenses for reimbursement. Publish program in Librarys Newsletter. Prepare flyers to display 2 weeks before program. Request PR for website, Facebook, Twitter, and/or Pinterest. Distribute PR to schools and newspapers. Buy any necessary supplies. Make copies of program evaluations to use at your program. Library Mission: The Chesapeake Bay's weather has had a profound impact on Maryland's culture and history, and this talk will focus primarily on the dramatic human stories behind the region's most extreme weather, as well as on how the need to forecast or compensate for weather often prompted leaps in technology, communication and transportation that shaped the future of Maryland. This program relates to our mission because of its cultural and educational opportunity for the community. Evaluation: At the end of the program, give the patrons a Participant Evaluation Form to fill out. This lets us know information to plan future programs: Program title, date, and library attended. Age and gender. How did the patron learn about the program? Flyer, newspaper, website, etc Would they like to receive email of newsletter and upcoming program events? Did the program meet their expectations? How effective was the program? How effective was the presenter?
