Its hard to ignore the eerie feeling one gets as the month of October arrives.

Feelings of fright and strangeness define the very essence of October, giving it a personality. But to some, it is a month of opportunity, a chance for many to show their creativity and originality, which is exactly what the album Electric Ladyland, by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, is about. Released on Oct. 25, 1968, Electric Ladyland was the third and final album released by Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix is known for his incredible song rendition shown on track fifteen, All Along The Watch Tower. The original performance by Bob Dylan can easily be deemed dull or mundane, but Hendrix electrified the songs guitar rift to suit his energetic music style. Hendrixs cover doesnt require any proof of superiority, as the song speaks for itself due to the mind-blowing solo Hendrix added. Sorry Bob Dylan, no contest what-so-ever. Above all, Jimi Hendrixs music is classified as psychedelic rock, and frankly, no argument can dispute it. Track nine, Burning Of The Midnight Lamp, and the ballad track eleven, 1983(A Merman I Should Turn To Be), are extremely psychedelic, due to the hours of editing both Olympic Studios and Hendrix himself put into the songs. The use of outside musicians, improvisation, guitar pedals/effects, and the addition of backwards recordings add emphasis to the tracks. Critics primarily focus on the trippy nature of Electric Ladyland, bypassing Hendrixs creative genius. Tony Glover, former writer for Rolling Stone Magazine, was skeptical, claiming that the album was an extended look into Hendrixs head, but that, mostly it seems to have some pretty good things in it. - Jackson Krzos Dragons Tale

Sonoma is anything but a ghost town on Halloween night. In a town as small as Sonoma, traditions become an important cultural stamp on the community. It is hard to avoid the explosion of orange and black that occurs during October in the Valley. Most community members have distinct traditions that they look forward to each year. The students at SVHS have many different ways of celebrating this spooky time of year. Decorating is a substantial part of families Halloween rituals. Paige Giomi, senior, decorates her house every year with lights, a graveyard and many moving and speaking objects. We go all out, described Giomi. Giomi and her family also carve about 10 pumpkins a year. Andy Gibson, AP U.S. History and AVID teacher described his childhood Halloween tradition of going trick-ortreating with the neighborhood kids, starting at one end of the Agua Caliente

the Dead). Raquel Darnell, sophomore, and celebrator of Dia de los Muertos, has many traditions. Every year, she makes sugar skulls, dresses up, eats food that her deceased loved ones enjoyed, and attends mass, all very common customs for Dia de los Muertos. A long-standing Sonoma Halloween
