The biggest problems faced by humanity in 21 century.
Pollution, discrimination, global warming, nuclear energy, terrorism, violence, war, genocide, poverty, overpopulation, starvation. There are many problems faced by humanity nowadays. In our opinion the most important of them are overpopulation, terrorism, global warming and pollution, and we will give you some information about this serious issues. 1. OVERPOPULATION Overpopulation is a term that refers to a condition by which the population density enlarges to a limit that provokes the environmental deterioration, a remarkable decline in the quality of life, or a population collapse. The term population density denotes the number of inhabitants dwelling in a specific area, for e ample! 1"" inhabitants per square #ilometer. The human overpopulation has been credited to diverse factors, as the increment in life$span, the absence of natural enemies, the improvement in the quality of life, and the accessibility to get better goods. %very year, more than &1 million people add the world$wide population. %very 1" years almost one billion inhabitants are added to the world's population. 1.2.CURRENT EFFECTS OF OVERPOPULATION (ue to the opening out of human settings, 1) million hectares of forest are chopped down each year. The accelerated growth of the human populations has propitiated the destruction of natural habitats of many species. *eople are invading the
habitats of those species, replacing them to inhospitable places and condemning the native species to the e tinction. The speed of e tinction of plants and animals attributable to human activities is 1",""" times faster than the natural quotient. +bout , million people die every year from illnesses associated to organic wastes. Too dense human communities produce tons of solid wastes -organic and inorganic waste. daily, consume large quantities of energy and emit more pollutants to the environment. 1.3 TREN S OF POPULATION !RO"T# The rate of population growth has been receding since 1/)0. The rate of global growth before the 1/)"s was near to 2.1 percent, at present the rate has diminished to 1.22 percent. If you observe the current tendency, you could assume that all works well, but actually, it does not. +ctually this global picture has been obtained taking into account mainly %uropean countries, as 3ermany and 4olland, which hold a negative rate. On the other hand, some countries maintain rates of growth over 1 percent each year. 5or e ample, the %thiopia6s current population of )" million inhabitants is pro7ected to near 12" million by 2",". 8y 2",", India will displace to 9hina from its first place in growth rate, with an increment of ,," million additional inhabitants to its present population of more than one billion. If the world population continues growing at an average of three children by couple, the global population for 2"," will be of 1"., billion inhabitants, from whom 2.2 billion will suffer for e treme poverty, lack of fresh water, hunger, illnesses, etc. In some cases, the five countries at the first level of population growth -9hina, India, :;+, Indonesia and 8ra<il. will continue in their current rank because the rate of mortality in poor countries e ceeds the rate of births. If this tendency upturns, then those countries will have population growths of around five percent by year.
2.Terrorism
5irstly, I will give a definiton of terrorism.Terrorism is classified as the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. 8y using terrorism individuals and=or organi<ations
attempt to bring light to a political cause, end an economical condition, or to resist an opposing religion or ideology. Terrorists believe that they have no alternative options to counter what is usually a very larger opponent such as the government, a financial institution, or a >eligion. I liken it to the ?(avis and 3oliath? scenario in the bible however ,terrorists have no problem killing and maiming civilians at random places and at random times to achieve their goal or give publicity to their causes. In return, terrorist believe the publicity resulting from the act will cause more violence and uprisings. Terrorists believe that eventually, their actions will force changes in favor of their political, economic, or religious cause.
2.1. Political terrorism usually takes place within the confines of a country. (ifferent political organi<ations develop differing political views as to where the country should be going. @ines are drawn between conservative and liberal socialist ideology. One usually blaming the others for the state of the country6s poor economic and social condition. *ropaganda fuels disdain until someone snaps and takes matters into his own hands. The terrorism can take the form of an assassination as with -A5#. or the bombing of a government building as in Oklahoma with Timothy BcCeigh. 2.2. Economic terrorism occurs as an opposition to capitalist ideology. It can take place anywhere in the world and against a particular country, a 5inancial organi<ation or a company. The most infamous case of economic terrorism is /11 but there are others like Oil pipeline bombings in Digeria, and mining company bombings in south +merica. On ;ept 11 2""1 the Terrorist organi<ation +l$Eueda led by 8en @aden organi<ed a ma7or economic statement against the center of world capitalism, the twin towers that housed the Forld Trade Organi<ation. ;ince then +l$Eueda has vowed to attack every symbol of :;
imperialism anywhere in the world and has been affective or thwarted on several other occasions. 2.3. Religious terrorism is arguably the most dangerous of the three ma7or forms of terrorism. It started thousands of years in the middle east and is the product of festering grievances between Islam, Audaism and 9hristianity. >eligious ideology can be considered a step$father of the others because it can and does greatly influence ones political and economical views. The more religious a person is the more conservative he tends to be and the less religious the more @iberal. 9onservatives are usually upset about the moral principles in relation to the lifestyle of a people and culture. +merica and every country worldwide have become nervous, guarded and suspicious of it6s own citi<ens which means that terrorism works to a certain e tent. Terrorism it self was not started by Buslims and will not end with Buslims. +s long as there are people who feel that their cause is worth killing for then terrorism will always e ist. Fe can slow it down but realistically speaking Fe don6t believe it can ever be prevented. 3. What is global warming 3lobal warming is when the earth heats up -the temperature rises.. It happens when greenhouse gases -carbon dio ide, water vapor, nitrous o ide, and methane. trap heat and light from the sun in the earth's atmosphere, which increases the temperature. This hurts many people, animals, and plants. Bany cannot take the change, so they die. 3.1 What is the greenhouse e!!ect The greenhouse effect is when the temperature rises because the sun's heat and light is trapped in the earth's atmosphere. This is like when heat is trapped in a car. On a very hot day, the car gets hotter when it is out in the parking lot. This is because the heat and light from the sun can get into the car, by going through the windows, but it can't get back
out. This is what the greenhouse effect does to the earth. The heat and light can get through the atmosphere, but it can't get out. +s a result, the temperature rises. The sun's heat can get into the car through the windows but is then trapped. This makes what ever the place might be, a greenhouse, a car, a building, or the earth's atmosphere, hotter. ;ometimes the temperature can change in a way that helps us. The greenhouse effect makes the earth appropriate for people to live on. Fithout it, the earth would be free<ing, or on the other hand it would be burning hot. It would be free<ing at night because the sun would be down. Fe would not get the sun's heat and light to make the night somewhat warm. (uring the day, especially during the summer, it would be burning because the sun would be up with no atmosphere to filter it, so people, plants, and animals would be e posed to all the light and heat. +lthough the greenhouse effect makes the earth able to have people living on it, if there gets to be too many gases, the earth can get unusually warmer, and many plants, animals, and people will die. They would die because there would be less food -plants like corn, wheat, and other vegetables and fruits.. This would happen because the plants would not be able to take the heat. This would cause us to have less food to eat, but it would also limit the food that animals have. Fith less food, like grass, for the animals that we need to survive -like cows. we would even have less food. 3radually, people, plants, and animals would all die of hunger. 3.2 What is global warming doing to the environment 3lobal warming is affecting many parts of the world. 3lobal warming makes the sea rise, and when the sea rises, the water covers many low land islands. This is a big problem for many of the plants, animals, and people on islands. The water covers the plants and causes some of them to die. Fhen they die, the animals lose a source of food, along with their habitat. +lthough animals have a better ability to adapt to what
happens than plants do, they may die also. Fhen the plants and animals die, people lose two sources of food, plant food and animal food. They may also lose their homes. +s a result, they would also have to leave the area or die. This would be called a break in the food chain, or a chain reaction, one thing happening that leads to another and so on. 3.3. What causes global warming Bany things cause global warming. One thing that causes global warming is electrical pollution. %lectricity causes pollution in many ways, some worse than others. In most cases, fossil fuels are burned to create electricity. 5ossil fuels are made of dead plants and animals. ;ome e amples of fossil fuels are oil and petroleum. Bany pollutants -chemicals that pollute the air, water, and land. are sent into the air when fossil fuels are burned. ;ome of these chemicals are called greenhouse gasses G +nother thing that makes global warming worse is when people cut down trees. Trees and other plants collect carbon dio ide -9O2., which is a greenhouse gas. 9arbon dio ide is the air that our body lets out when we breathe. Fith fewer trees, it is harder for people to breathe because there is more 9O2 in the air, and we don't breathe 9O2, we breathe o ygen. *lants collect the 9O2 that we breathe out, and they give back o ygen that we breathe in. Fith less trees and other plants, such as algae, there is less air for us, and more greenhouse gases are sent into the air. This means that it is very important to protect our trees to stop the greenhouse effect, and also so we can breathe and live. 3.". What are people doing to stop global warming *eople are doing many things to try to stop global warming. One thing people are doing is carpooling. 9arpooling is driving with someone to a place that you are both going
to. This minimi<es the amount of greenhouse gases put into the air by a car. +nother thing that people are doing is being more careful about leaving things turned on like the television, computer, and the lights. + lot of people are taking time away from the television, and instead, they are spending more time outdoors. This helps our planet out a lot. Dow, more people are even riding busses, walking to school, and riding their bikes to lower the amount of greenhouse gases in the air. *lanting trees and recycling also helps. If you recycle, less trash goes to the dump, and less trash gets burned. +s a result, there are fewer greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere. Fatch what you buy. Bany things, such as hairspray and deodorant, now are made to have less of an impact on the atmosphere. @ess greenhouse gasses will rise into the air, and global warming will slow down. ". Pollution %very day human creations produce pollution as a result of the devisingand invention of machinery. 4umans are responsible for nearly everythingin the world that has been created and is the source of pollution. In our opinion the biggest problem facing human in the ne t 1"" years is pollution such as nuclear waste.+lthough +tomic power is very good source of energy, we can use water and many other things to make power. +t the same time nuclear power have a principal risks and nuclear waste is one of them because it is radioactive. Beanwhile all countries want to discover new knowledge. I think they don6t think about what might happen in the ne t century or in future. This is a serious problem, like what to do with the waste because we are no longer allowed to throw them into ocean or bury it under ground. This waste can cause the earth to be destroyed, so it is impossible to grow anything in that area. The possible solution is we can use that energy 7ust for some
special cases. *oliticians should not use this energy for war weapons, +tomic bombs or e periment on humans6 body. The devastation caused to 4iroshima and 9hernobyl, 5ukushima shows that atomic weapon and power can have irreparable results. +s people are living longer today and ;cience is more advanced than ever before, the results of mistakes made now will be visited on the unborn generations to come. 4uman history has been an e pert witness to tragic events from the past. Fe should do anything we can to prevent such tragic events occurring. Thats all folks kidsH.
