INDEXA: 2013 Membership Update

Hello INDEXA Members and fellow DXers, First, I would like to sincerely thank you for your INDEXA membership and support this year. As you recall this was the 30th anniversary of INDEXA. What monumental changes have occurred over the years. In the very beginning INDEXA assisted DXpeditions with rigs, antennas, coax and even educational material for the locals at the DXpedition site. Our newsletters had to be printed, folded, placed in envelopes, stamped and mailed. This was time consuming, expensive and slow for our members. Now almost all of our newsletters and bulletins are sent over the internet. What a big cost reduction, funds that are now used for the DXpeditions. Over the years many manufacturers have started providing most of the equipment for DXpeditions. Now INDEXA assumes the role of assisting DXpeditions with financial support only. INDEXAs growth and success is largely because of you, our members. Certainly each of you enjoyed the adrenalin rush of working a new DXCC entity or band country this year. What a good feeling this gives a DXer. The past year has been wonderful for great DXpeditions and unusual conditions. Hopefully you feel your membership and support has paid off by looking at the increasing numbers on your DXCC account over the year. Your membership and donations this past year again allowed us to support more DXpeditions than in recent years. Below is a list of DXpeditions we financially supported this year and ones supported so far for 2014. Our web site www.indexa.org shows our track record for a few years back and a glimpse into the future.

INDEXAs Officer and Director changes this year continue to bring us wonderful allvolunteer DXers to assist in decision making issues for INDEXA. Earlier in the year our long time Secretary-Treasurer Bill Jennings, W4UNP, decided to retire, but was asked to stay on as a Director. The new Secretary-Treasurer is a long time member, Dick Williams, W3OA. Dick has been a tremendous asset to INDEXA with his quick assumption of duties. Our long time Directors, N4AA, W4NL, W9RG and JA3USA did not run for re-election. Two new Directors, Mary Hobart, K1MMH and Ralph Fedor, K0IR were elected to the Board of Directors. John Scott, K8YC, our Vice President and Newsletter Editor, has continued to publish colorful and exciting newsletters that seem to just keep getting better with time. Your INDEXA officers have voted to keep our annual dues at $20.00 for 2014. As always, additional donations are very much appreciated and go a long way in assisting the DXpeditions to rare DXCC entities for you. This might change in 2015, but you could stabilize future changes by taking advantage of our 5 Year Membership offering for just $100.00. This offer will be available through the end of March 2014. Either a one year or five year subscription would be a great gift to give a friend for Christmas. Sure beats going to the mall to find a gift. Payments can be made on the web site www.indexa.org under the Join or Renew tab. Hopefully all of you will enjoy the fun of DXing and many more adrenalin rushes in 2014. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season. Regards, Gary Dixon, K4MQG INDEXA President
