DAY 1: CHALON-SUR-SANE Welcome to Chalon-sur-Sane. After boarding your ship, you have time to relax, or join a welcome walk before this evenings welcome cocktail and dinner. DAY 2: BEAUNE After breakfast, take a scenic drive along Frances Burgundy wine region through Pommard, Volnay and Meursault. Arrive in Beaune, wine capital of Burgundy, for a guided tour of Htel Dieu and learn about local wine production, then enjoy a wine tasting at one of Beaunes famous wine cellars. DAY 3: LYON After a morning cruise, you will have a tour of Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Basilica of Notre Dame and pass the magnificent St. Jean Cathedral and Palace of Justice. Then take a walking tour through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, followed by some free time. Dinner is served aboard. DAY 4: LYON & VIENNE Your morning is at leisure to further explore this 2,000-year-old city. This afternoon, take a walking tour of nearby Vienne, a beautiful town with an ancient Roman past. Visit the Temple of Augustus and Livia and the Roman amphitheatre. Return to your ship for dinner and an evening departure. DAY 5: TOURNON & VIVIERS During your guided tour learn about the regions traditions in wine-making. Enjoy a wine tasting followed by a visit to the Muse de Tain LHermitage, located in the oldest house in the region. Arrive after dinner in Viviers and take an evening stroll through the Old Town with buildings dating back to the Middle Ages. DAY 6: ARLES On your walking tour of Arles, you will see many Gallo-Roman ruins including Les Arnes, an ancient 20,000-seat amphitheatre that is still used today. The citys vibrant colours were an inspiration to Vincent van Gogh. Return for lunch followed by free time. DAY 7: AVIGNON This morning, enjoy a walking tour of Avignon, home to seven popes from 1309-1377. Stop at the Pont dAvignon for amazing views and walk the Place de lHorloge. Continue to the renowned Palace of the Popes for a guided tour. Then explore Avignon on your own, or join an optional tour to Chteauneufdu-Pape to visit the vineyards. Your ship remains docked overnight. DAY 8: AVIGNON Your Portraits of Southern France tour concludes after breakfast.
