students. All students and staff were then transported to the harbour front venue with a backdrop of the harbor bridge. Certainly a memorable panorama for more photographs. The evening was enjoyed by all with delicious food and a lot of dancing. Management of the Deckhouse commented on our students being a pleasure to have at their venue and they have not seen a school group so happy to dance to anything. The staff were very proud of the way our students conducted themselves and their inclusive and friendly nature towards each other. It was a wonderful evening and a fitting way for our deserving Year 12 students to celebrate their secondary education at Crestwood High School. On behalf of our school we wish year 12 well on the next chapter of their lives.

Peter Brooks, a para-olympic cyclist was the guest speaker sharing his experiences on the road to achieving two para-olympic gold and one bronze medal. His speech was insightful, entertaining and inspirational. Many thanks to our two sports organisers, Mr Matt Thomas and Mr Vince Capano who coordinated this event. They work tirelessly and with great commitment to ensure the success of the sports program here at Crestwood High School.

From the Deputy Principals

Major works happening in the school - Crestwood High School is continually being upgraded and improved so that students have the best facilities possible. Although money is tight we have been able to secure enough funding to complete some major projects. This week will see the upgrade of the bus bay area. Almost 150 students use this area on a daily basis and over the years it has eroded away and become unsightly. New retaining walls and seating will be installed to make this area functional again. Towards the end of the year, a kitchen upgrade will begin. This will involve the Kitchen FT1. A new stainless steel kitchen will be installed with some new appliances. The budget for this is tight and it is important that students pay their subject contribution so that the budget is not used to cover students consumables. Social GracesIn AIM lessons this week, students will be discussing those things we all do to ensure we are accepted in polite society. Students will be discussing what you should do every day to show manners and be polite, including saying please and thank you, excuse me and all those other behaviours that show respect. Please discuss this at home and practice the social graces that are so important in everyday society. How to be HappyAndrew Fuller, a clinical psychologist, works with many schools and communities in Australia and internationally, specializing in the wellbeing of young people and their families. He has written some tips for young people on things you can do to make you feel happier. See pages 8 and 9 of this newsletter to read his tips.
