INTRODUCTION
At Alberta Health Services (AHS), we value safety and accountability. We are each responsible for the quality of patient care and the safety of our work environment. We need to take action to protect ourselves, our patients, our coworkers and our families from influenza and other communicable diseases. The annual influenza immunization campaign for AHS employees commenced on October 21st, 2013. Our target for the influenza immunization campaign is 50% of our staff reporting as immunized. As of January 6, AHS was at 47.8% (44,095 employees), and Covenant Health was at 49.0% (5,899 employees). The key messages of this years campaign were communicated to all AHS staff: No patient should get influenza from our staff while in our care. Notes on the display of employee immunization rates across the Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health sites/facilities: Zone: Calgary, Edmonton, North, South, Central Zones are shown at the top right hand corner. The Zone information is the overall immunization rate. Workplace Location: the location of the facility/site within the Zone. Employee Influenza Immunization Rate - as of January 6th, 2013 Percentage (%): Determines the influenza immunization rate within the specific facility/site as of January 6th, 2013.

Notes on data collection This data is reflective of information in the system as of January 6, 2014. Influenza vaccination is voluntary for health care workers. AHS employees can also consent or decline to report their immunization status to the organization. The rates reported are conservative. Individuals that have gone to public health or to third party providers (such as their physicians, their local pharmacy or other providers) and have not submitted their information to WHS AHS will not have their vaccination accounted for in this report.
