1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Information Courtesy is the showing of politeness in one's attitude and behavior toward others.

It has become lessen nowadays. In an article, Common courtesy, What a Rude Malaysian! (2009), a burly security guard came charging toward the author. A practically rugby, tackled him back outside the building a said no umbrella. Was it necessary for the security guard to put his hands towards the author so rudely, seemingly devoid of the ability to communicate to the author in a civilized manner that the author have to put his umbrella in rainproof plastic before entering the centre? This is one of the situation that show less of courtesy behavior. There are several factors that may affect their behavior towards other. A person might be less courtesy because of the family background, friends and their lifestyle, such as the way they were taught. A parents nowadays, maybe busy at their work and only focus on their careers, so children might be neglected. Worse yet, it look like the parents is intentionally ignoring the bad behavior, how much does culture and lifestyle affect behaviours, (2010). In the countrary, refers to Dr Dale A Rabbins, 2006, for instance, a girl from the past only stay at home prepare a food, but a girl nowadays, love to hang out with their friends and having a fun in their life. So in this project work, we want to find out about courtesy among the Johore Matriculation College (JMC) and do they still practice the traditional values in their daily life. 2
