An Ordinance to approve th~Federal Constitution set out in the Federation ?,f Malaya Agreement, 1957.

by the Federation of Malaya Agreement, 1948, provision was madeffor the establishment of a Federation of Malaya conjprising the Malay States of lohore, Pahang, Negri ~embilan, Selangor, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, Trengga~u and Perak and the Settle- , ments of Penang and Mal~cca:
WHEREAS

, AND WHEREAS by an Agreement, hereinafter referred to as the Federation of M,alaya Agreement, 1957, made the fifth day of August, 1;957, between Her Majesty of the one part and Their JIighnesses the ~ulers of the States of lohore, Pahaf1g, Selangor, Ke'dah, Perlis, Kelantan, Trengganu and Perak, 'and His Highness the Yang di-Pertuan Besar ~nd the Ruling Chiefs of the State of Negri Sembilan of the other part fresh arrangements have been agreed ~pon for the peace, order and good government of the territories comprised in the Federation of Malaya: AND WHEREAS by the ~}Federationof Malaya Agreement, 1957, it is agreed by the parties thereto that as - from the thirty-first day;,of August, 1957, the Malay States of lohore, Pahadg, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan,IT'rengganu and Perak and the Settlements of Penang and Malacca shall be formed into a new Federationt of S~ates b:y the n~me of persekutuan Tanah Melayu (ill EnglIsh the FederatIon of Malaya), under th~ Federal Constitution set out in the First Schedule to the said Agreement; and that thereupon the part Settlements\o!
