Ms. Meyer’s Classroom Newsletter
Special Students
We have taken a lot of time these last few
weeks to get to know one another. Each child
gets a turn at being the Special Student.
They tell us unique things about themselves
and then we ask lots of questions about their
favorite things, family, pets, etc. The
students then return to their seats and write
what they learned about that special student
and draw a picture of them. Papers are
collected and placed into the special student’s
decorated folder. Have you seen your child’s
special student folder yet?

Class List
We currently have 19 students but can have
other students join us at any time. Here is
our class list: Aiden, Alexis, Anna, Anthony,
Courtney C., Courtney K., E.J., Glenn,
Heather, Hayden, Ja’Taysia, Kristie, Landon,
Madison, Na’Kiyah Nick, Syree, Titus, and
William.

Character Development
Our class has worked very hard on being the
best people we can be. We’ve studied, sung
songs, read, role-played, and thought
critically about 10 different character traits.
These are: citizenship, compassion, fairness,
honesty, integrity, perseverance, respect,
responsibility, self-discipline, and
trustworthiness. By using these character
traits as our guide, we are building a safe and
comfortable classroom community where we
can learn and grow all year long!
Classroom Happenings
-We have delved into our Life Science
module studying live insects and their life
cycles. Larvae anyone?
-In Math Investigations we are working on
time, place value and the number system.
-Our agendas are full of writing as well as
our Special student folders. We are
focusing on capital letters and
punctuation.
-We are still getting used to the web-
based A.R. program and our user id’s. I
know many of you have filled out the
library forms to access your child’s
progress!
