The festival ends with toro nagashi. This is the floating of paper lanterns down rivers so spirits return to the land of the dead.

Spain La Tomatina

Spain La Tomatina
Bunyol, Spain
Began in 1944 as a fight during another festival. Young men picked tomatoes as weapons for the fight.

Last Wednesday in August

Starts at around 10 am. First event is to climb a greasy pole with ham on top. When the ham drops, that is the starting signal. Tomato throwing starts at around 11 am and goes on for one hour. Tomatoes must be crushed first so they dont hurt anyone.

Your Project 1
In teams, you will make a research on a festival of your interest. You will have (about) 3 classes* to complete your research and present it to the class. PRESENTATIONS: September 27 * Sept 6, 13 and 27

Procedure
1- Explore the Festivals with the help of the A CTIVITY 1 worksheet and make your TOP 5 (fi ll-in the document) 2- Compare your TOP 5 with your classmates . Choose 1 that you share in common with an other person.

3- Start your research: (put the information in a word document) ---no COPY and PASTE

- History of the festival (when did it start? Why

? Who created it? ) - What kind of activities are happening? - When and where does it take place? - How many visitors/participants? - Pictures and videos

4- Prepare your presentation:

- NoteBook presentation - PowerPoint presentation - PDF presentation - Diaporama (video with pictures and
descriptions) 5- Fill-in the document to hand-in for your evaluation.

Information on your presentation

Do not write all your text on your presen
tation. Use KEY WORDS. (I am not evaluating your ability to read a text!) Put ALL the information listed on page 19 of this presentation. Put A LOT of pictures (and 1 video?) MAX 3 minutes.

Evaluation
Your presentation (C1speaking
fluency and accuracy)

Your reaseach: the word document

(1/team) (C3writing) ( NO COPYING see the example) MAKE IT INTERESTING TO WATCH!
