Ana Castillo was an activist leader who was the first who give Chicana points of views in the Chicano movement. She shared her views by writing literature in a type of way that seem like protest poetry and became a part of the latina feminist traditions. The purpose of the source was to give a point of view in the Chicano movement. Chicanos were always look as having poor education, inadequate employment, segregation and lack of good housing; people then form La Causa to better Chicanos lives against racism; this led to Chicana demands to birth control, against forced sterilization, welfare rights, prison rights, and against male violence. This gave me an inside view of the Chicano movement.

The purpose of the source was to understand the United Farm Workers of America effects in the movement. The group fought to ameliorate the appalling conditions endured by agricultural laborers: poverty-level wages, substandard housing, dismal working conditions, lack of benefits, poor job security, exploitation by unscrupulous labor contractors, and racism on the part of employers and their allies.Farm laborers suffered from high rates of disease, elevated infant mortality rates, short life expectancy, and low educational attainment.
