WKNJ Newscast February 21, 2014 Ocquasia McCalpine Good afternoon, its Friday.

February 21st, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. and your listening to 90.3 WKNJ-FM, Union, New Jersey, and Im Ocquasia McCalpine with the news. In Local News A shipment of road salt has arrived in Port Newark this morning from Chile to replenish depleted stockpiles in the New Jersey. An unusually snowy winter has created a salt shortage across the Northeast. The shipment arrived just three days earlier than another barge was expected. The state Department of Transportation put an order in for nearly two weeks ago for a 40,000-ton emergency salt supply that was un-cleared for docking at the U.S. Port. Chile sent help just in time, forecasters are warning New Jersey that we could be in for more snow as soon as late next week.

In Roselle Park, Victor Beacham, 29 of Newark and Joshua Dixon, 21, of Patterson were charged in connection with a stolen car. According to Patrolman Brian Swick, at approximately 10p.m on Feb.17, Dixon and Beacham were pulled over in a 1993 Honda on the 500 block of W. Westfield Avenue after it was discovered that the license plate of the car was confirmed stolen out of Clifton. The suspects were arrested and taken to Union County Jail. The driver, Beacham, was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property. The passenger, Dixon, was charged with unlawful taking of means of conveyance.

In National News As the infant in the back seat of her SUV turned blue with unconsciousness, Pamela Rauseo panicked. Rauseos nephew, 5-month old Sebastian de la Cruz, who was born premature with severe respiratory difficulties, stopped breathing during a car ride Thursday afternoon. Rauseo pulled over along the Miamis Dolphin Expressway and started giving the baby CPR. Fellow drivers and bystanders began to assist and comfort Rauseo. I dont know how I remembered what to do. I just knew I couldnt let him die. She told an ABC News reporter. Once breathing again, rescue crews took baby Sebastian to the hospital where he was photographed in his mothers arms, smiling.
