From Pingdong, catch a bus to Donggang (NT72, 40 minutes, every 20 minutes). The bus will first stop in town and then proceed to the harbour ferry terminals. There are two ferry terminals on the right before the fish market and both offer trips to Little Liuchiu Island. The first terminal is the one we recommend. Boats to Baisha Harbour on Little Liuchiu Island (return NT410, 30 minutes) leave every hour in the morning (first ferry at 7am) and every 1 hours in the afternoon. The last boat back to Donggang leaves at 5pm or 6pm, depending on the season. Notes
1. Round-the-island Road has no shelter, please bring water and put on sunblock before the ride. 2. No ferry service is available at night. If you would like to spend the night on Liuqiu, please contact hostels operated by residents on the island in advance. 3. In order to protect the landscape and wildlife, entrance fees are collected for Beauty Cave, Wild Boar Trench and Black Devil Cave. You can visit all three spots with the same ticket. Beauty Cave is located in the middle of the round -the-island road. You can go past the spot by explaining to the ticketing officers that you just want to go past and do not want to go in and have a look.

Restaurant
The stores are mainly concentrated near the end of the Baisha port. There are also a few stores at Black Devil Cave, Wild Boar Trench, Geban Bay and Beauty Cave on the west coast.

Few days ago, Queen D and me went for a 3 days vacations to Liuqiu island (Liouciou). It belongs to Pingtung county and is located about 14 km to the port of Donggang: Its quite a small island, less than 7 square kilometers and roughly 12 to 15 km as its perimeter (by scooter, it takes less than 30 minutes to drive all around). There are about 8 villages with almost 13,000 inhabitants. About transportation, we took a ferry from Donggang port and needed 30 minutes to arrive to the island main port (located near the vase rock see above what is called (?) the Vase Crag). Even though it was possible to rent a car (but what for, except you are a large family with a lot of kids), we rent a scooter. The funny thing there, is that 99% of the cars have no ID plate! Really, we had the feeling that we were staying in a place totally different from Taiwan A real paradise Off season, so we were not bothered by too much tourists.
