LADIES MINISTRIES 2013

Mission Statement But it is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. Mark 10:43-44 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 But speaking the truth in love we are to grow up in all aspects unto Him, who is the Head, even Christ. Ephesians 4:19 And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 The mission of this group is service, outreach, spiritual growth, and fellowship. We are to involve Christian women in witness and ministry through care giving ministries; provide opportunities for outreach to women who need Jesus Christ as their Savior; to help others deepen their walk with the Lord; and to strengthen the bonds of friendship among the ladies of all ages in our church. Wedding and Baby Showers Bridal and baby showers for church families will be the responsibility of friends or family of the couple. Although showers are private events, the Fellowship Hall is available at no cost. A public invitation may also be placed on the church bulletin board. Revised 11/12

Policy Statement Funerals The Event Coordinator in the church office will be contacting the Funeral Food Committee. The Funeral Food Committee will then be responsible for the amount of food and number of workers needed to serve the bereaved family. A typical meal will be meat and cheese sandwiches, salad/relish tray, and cakes/bars. Any meat and bread used for sandwiches will be paid for by Arbor Drive Community Church. All other items will be donated by those in the Funeral Food Committee. The bereaved family is welcome to make a contribution to Arbor Drive Community Church to assist in covering these costs. Other Courtesies The Meal Train Chairs will be responsible for implementing the needs of our church as explained below: Suggested meal guidelines when need is seen because of: Hospital/surgeries3-5 meals Home illness1-3 meals MovesUp to 3 meals (House to house, in or out of the community) Birth of a new baby3 meals (Up to 5 meals with surgery or complications) *More meals will be provided at the discretion of the Meal Train Co-Chairs. Leadership Team It is the responsibility of the Leadership Team to formulate and organize the program for the Ladies Ministries. This team will consist of three (3) members approved by the Elder Board plus ex officio members. The Leadership Team will act as a body to select a new member each year. Qualifications of selected team members include church membership of at least one year, active involvement in church life, and interest displayed in ladies activities and growth. Length of service for the approved and appointed team member shall be three years, with the most senior member leaving the team annually. However, if the senior member is interested in serving another term, she may also be considered. The first year a woman is a member of the team she will serve as secretary/treasurer. The next year she will be chairman and the third year she will serve as advisor/publicity. The ex officio members may include the wife of the pastor/s and others as selected by the team. The Leadership Team will prepare an annual budget for expenses to sustain the ministry. The proposed budget will be presented for approval to the Elder Board. The Ladies Leadership will communicate the amount to be spent for each event. The bills for expenses will be submitted to the church office for reimbursement. If woman of the church feel they have a need to be presented to the Ladies Leadership, please contact a team member to add it to the meeting agenda. In the meeting, if a vote on any item is determined to be necessary, only approved team members will be entitled to vote. A yearly calendar of events with Co-Chairs will be determined by the Ladies Leadership Team. Our desire is to have every woman involved in serving with an event. If the event you are assigned to does not work with your schedule, please contact your event chairperson. Revised 11/12

Spiritual Growth Ministry The purpose of the Spiritual Growth Ministry is to encourage spiritual growth through personal commitment to God, Bible study, prayer, a reader of Christian literature, retreats, personal enrichment and development of the gifts God has given. The Spiritual Growth Ministry coordinator is appointed by the Leadership Team annually and works with guidance from the second year team member. The Spiritual Growth Ministry coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing activities designed to meet the spiritual needs of our women. Bible studies will be led by regular attendees or members of the church. Revised 11/12

Policy Statement Compassion Ministry The purpose of the Compassion Committee is to involve Christian women in witness through care-giving. The coordinator/s will be appointed annually by the Ladies Leadership Team. The coordinator/s will see that flowers, plants and cards are delivered, as needed. Any known needs should be reported to the church office. The church office will inform the Ladies Leadership Team. The Ladies Leadership Team will contact the leader of the Compassion Ministry to cover the needs. Suggested gestures shall include: Death of spouse, parents, or childrenDeath of other relativePlant Sympathy card Rose or fresh flower bouquet (Garden / grocery store / Wal-Mart) Appropriate card Card at time of birth / Rosebud at Dedication

Policy Statement Babysitting Bible study groups or other small ministry groups shall be responsible for securing babysitters that may be needed for child care. If the babysitters expect payment, that payment should be proportionately paid by each person using the service. Possibly those with more than one child could be charged on a graduated scale. If there is a severe financial need, it could be made known to the group which might adjust the charges to meet the need. In cases of very extreme financial hardships, the Pastor and Elders should be approached about possible contributions from the Elder Fund. Revised 11/12

Realizing there are many avenues in which to express compassion, we also extend our compassion to include not only hospitalized, sick and shut-ins, but elderly, widows, newcomers, prayer-chain recipients and nursing home residents as well. Revised 11/12
