For some travels a dream that comes true once a year for the annual vacation. Often eo le yearn of a greater travel adventure li!e a year in Africa "me# or selling everything and $umming off to %entral America for 1& months 'ith the !ids li!e 'e did in ())*. For some, travel is a s'eet lan for retirement on a $oat, a house $us, 'ith a $ac! ac! or $y train. I havent +uite decided yet and might have to run 'ith all of those travel lans in my golden years. For me travel has $een an all-consuming assion. My 'hole lifes $een geared to'ards it. I trained to teach ,nglish as a foreign language so I could travel and get aid for it, and I did -ust that for years. I 'or!ed in e.otic locations li!e /im$a$'e, 0aos and France then saved u so I could travel e.tensively in ,uro e, Africa, 1outh ,ast Asia and Australasia. Its $een grand.2hese are my ideas in no articular order. 1. 2o challenge yourself My toilet and $athroom 'hen I 'or!ed in rural /im$a$'e in 133(. I shared it 'ith seven other teachers and their families. 4o running 'ater, -ust a hole in the ground loo! and no loc! on the door either 5 the to'el hanging on the door indicates the $athroom is occu ied. (. 2o en-oy ne' e. eriences 0oo!s as if my hus$and, 6ich, had fun hanging out 'ith this mon!ey 7 hes the one on the right. 2his hoto 'as ta!en in ())8 at a mon!ey sanctuary in northern 2hailand. 9. 2o find yourself Follo'ing in the footste s of the Beatles, many eo le travel to India to find themselves $ut this traveler loo!s as if she lost herself. :o you laugh 'hen travelers dress li!e a local; I do. <ere a young hi y chic! in India dons the local gar$. Boiangiu Maria-Iulia,FB,Anul I,Gr.1 *. 2o see ne' things Ive seen the 2a- Mahal, clim$ed the ,iffel 2o'er and the 2'in 2o'ers, and s ied sloths, ta irs, lions and ele hants in the 'ild, $ut I can never go 'ithin a @)!m radius of a 'aterfall 'ithout chec!ing it out. I love the noise, the s ray, the constant rush of s ar!ling 'ater. I 'as raised in a 'atermill and 'e had t'o 'aterfalls in our garden so may$e thats 'here my love of them comes from. I recommend 4e' /ealand and %osta 6ica for 'aterfall lovers. <ere I am 'ith the !ids at a fairly decent cascade in %osta 6ica. I dont thin! I could ever tire or visiting ne' 'aterfallsD &. 2o eat ne' food I li!e to try ne' stuff $ut I dra' the line at some things li!e the cris y fried giant centi edes offered as $ar snac!s in /im$a$'e. My hus$and is more adventurous and en-oyed a $rea!fast of roasted s+uirrel 'ith a side order of toasted maggots for $rea!fast during a tre! in 2hailand. I 'ent hungry that day. I have eaten !angaroo though. Its +uite o ular here in Australia, $ut even more 'idely eaten in Belgium of all laces.
