Treatment

1. There are four people sitting on a bench in a school. They appear to be friends as they are sitting together. The two girls are best friends and the boys are best friends. All four of the friends are laughing which shows that they are having a good time. Even though, two of the friends, Jason and ucy are reading boo!s and seem to be engrossed in it. ". #am stands up and tells the group that he has a good idea on what they can do however$ ucy and %ebecca seem as if they are not interested in his idea as the rolling of the eyes indicates they believe his idea will not be good. Though, Jason tries to stic! up for his best friend which turns the two genders against each other. &. %ebecca as!s #am sarcastically what his idea was but Jason jumps to #am's defence by telling %ebecca to give his best friend a chance. (. )n support of her best friend, ucy moc!s Jason by ma!ing fun of his defence which ma!es %ebecca and ucy laugh. )t appears that the two girls are more immature than the two boys which is concluded by the moc!ery. *. #am is +uic! to jump to his and Jason's friendship's defence by highlighting the fact that their friendship has been going strong for eight years. They stand side by side which seems as if they are ganging up or defending themselves.

,. -ontinuing with the moc!ery, ucy and %ebecca tease the boys by implying that they are being .childish' and they say that it is only been four years for them which once again highlights the moc!ery. /. Jason and #am show their maturity by ignoring the girls' teasing and decide to wal! away to prevent confrontation. 0. The girls are not affected by the boys' departure and continue to do what they were doing before and that was gossiping. 1. The scene changes and #am appears to be sitting alone of a bench. 2e ta!es out a mirror and loo!s at his reflection which a disgusted e3pression. 14. 2e says .stupid' which implies that he does not li!e what he sees which suggests he disli!es himself. 11. #am then ta!es out a blac! noteboo! and writes the words .useless' which further suggests that he does not li!e himself and thin!s negatively of himself. 1". The scene changes and we are ta!en to a girly bedroom where we see %ebecca sitting on her bed surrounded by various fashion maga5ines and boo!s. 6y the girly atmosphere, we are made to believe that she loves fashion. 1&. 2owever, she puts her maga5ine down and pic!s up a blac! noteboo! where she writes .fa!e' three times. This emphasises the fact that she possibly believes that the world of fashion is fa!e and goes against the stereotypes of a girly girl. 1(. The scene changes and we are outside a library where Jason is sitting on his own with a revision boo!. 2e seems to be content.

1*. Although, he puts his revision boo! down and pic!s up a blac! noteboo! and starts to write .suicide.' This suggests that he is not happy with his life and wants to die possibly because of stress. As he is reading a boo!, this suggests the stress of school may be getting to him. 1,. The scene changes to a living room and we see ucy sitting on her sofa surrounded by various revision boo!s. #he is doing her wor!. 1/. ucy bends down to her bag and ta!es out a blac! noteboo! and she starts to write stressed which suggests that she her school wor! is causing stress for her. 10. 7inally, we are ta!en to outside a school where we see the two boys and the two girls wal!ing in to school from different directions. 11. The four friends meet up in the middle and go in to school. They all appear to be happy and this leaves us +uestioning why they appear to be friendly with their friends but rather depressed when on their own.
