Introducing Microsoft OneNote 2010


What is Microsoft OneNote? Is a computer program for free-form information gathering and multi-user collaboration. It gathers users notes (handwritten or typed), drawings, screen clippings and audio commentaries. (OneNote, 2014)

How to
How to create a new Notebook 1. Click the File tab, and then click New.

2. Under Store Notebook On, select a place where your notebook will be stored.

3. In the Name box, enter a name for your new notebook.

4. In the Location Type or Browse to a location for your notebook to be saved.

5. Click create Notebook

2. One the right side of your home page click new page

From here you add as many pages as you need.

How to add text

1. On your OneNote home page click on the tab you wish to add text to

2. Click your blank page or already written page and a box will appear were you will be able to add text Add your text here

How to use tags 1. Place the cursor at the beginning of the line of text you want to tag.

2. On the Home tab, in the Tags group, click the tag symbol you want to apply. Use the arrows to scroll through the list or click the More arrow to show all available tags.

Pick any Tag you like

Insert Tab
How to attach a file

1. On the Insert menu, click Files.

2. In the Choose a file or a set of files to insert dialog, navigate to the location of the file that you want to insert, and then click to select it.

3. How to create a screen clipping 1. On your screen, bring into view the information that you want to capture in the screen clipping. Navigate to the Web page that you want to capture as a picture. 2. Switch to OneNote, navigate to the page you want, and then place the cursor where you want to create the screen clipping to appear. 3. On the Insert tab, in the Images group, click Screen Clipping. OneNote is minimized and you are returned to a dimmed version of the last thing you looked at.

4. Using the mouse, click and drag the pointer in any direction to create a rectangular selection over the area of the screen that you want to capture. For example, you can start from the upper left corner of the area you want to capture, and then drag the pointer diagonally to the lower right.

5. When you release the mouse button, OneNote captures your selection as a picture and inserts it into your notes page at the position of the cursor. How to add rule lines 1. On your OneNote tool bar hit the view Tab, and click on Rule lines

2. After you click on rule lines you will be able to pick what rule lines you would like to add on your note page.

Other Applications
How to add information from a website In the Internet Explorer, open the page that contains the information that you want to copy to your notes. On the Internet Explorer command bar, click Send to OneNote. (Copy nformation from a Webpage to your notes, 2014)

How to add pictures to your notes 1. On the Insert tab, in the images group, click Picture

2. In the Insert Picture dialog box, navigate to the location where the image is located, click to select the file and then click Insert.

3. This window will pop up, and you can pick anything you like. (Insert a picture on a notes page, 2014)
