Position title: Summer Academic Advisor (temporary) Reports to: Director of CAAS Hours/Week: Full-time, 3.

5 months, 35-40 hours p/week (May 19-August 29, 2014) Salary: $15-$17/hr Starting Date: May 19, 2014 Ending Date: August 29, 2014

Duties and Responsibilities:

Advise incoming freshmen during summer registration; in person, email, or phone. Keep records on communication with students and parents. Responsible for student follow up of registration issues and completion. Oversee the programming and implementation of transfer registration days. Follow up with all transfer students to ensure their registration is complete. Assist Director in the development and preparation of pre-orientation faculty workshops. Run reports on various items needed during summer- form completion, newly admitted students, progress of student registration completion, available courses, and etc. Assist Director in preparation for new academic year programming, course planning, workshops, academic programs, and etc. Assess the summer registration process, and develop ideas of improvement.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree required, preferred masters or doctoral degree in education, psychology, counseling, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of academic advising experience preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Qualified candidates should have experience working with college level students in academic support environments, programming events, and counseling/advising techniques. Candidates will also have insight into the needs of first-generation and/or underrepresented college students, and a commitment to the ideals of a liberal arts education.
