resume for employment communication. The resume writing process begins with self assessment stage. planning writing and completing. Resume Writing - Stage 1: Self Assessment Self Assessment is the first step in planning your resume. The activities and the needed tasks at this stage are listed below: 1. planning (evaluating yourself your goals objective) 2. writing (using action verbs you can refer to your handouts to check these, no use of "i", use of AIDA) 3. completing (revise or proof read it ) Required: Cut/copy 1 advertisement [as sample] for which you may be applying for job soon after your graduation. Task 1: Do self assessment along the following lines and identify details and information about you that you may include in your resume/CV 1. My career objective (preferably short term immediate goal, may include long term goals related to your career) you can refer to your hand out for using sample objectives. 2. Your education (degrees, certificates, projects) professional qualification and academic qualifications. 3. Experience (internship, industrial visits, volunteer work) 4. Additional qualification (workshops, seminars, certifications etc.) 5. Skills (Technical {computer and professional} , Soft { cognitive, interpersonal and people oriented}) for example language. 6. Co curricular/ other professional activities (professional & academic events/activities, co curricular activities, sports activities etc.) 7. Honours/ Achievements/Distinction (academic and professional, then co curricular then sports and others) 8. Associations/ Affiliations/memberships/Positions (held or current) 9. References personal or professional if any. Required: Develop a list of information under each head with complete details that you would like to include in your CV (avoid repetition). You may not have information to offer under each head and there is a possibility that under one head you have more than a single idea to include. omit irrelevant heads (if any to you). Using this information improve upon the CV [earlier placed in your files] and print the c.v bring it to seminar on Wednesday, 16 April 2014.
