About Dr. Rose DuLude

Dr. DuLude is a trained, licensed clinical audiologist. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Prior to beginning Rose DuLude and Associates, Dr. DuLude served as Director of Audiology with Noise and Hearing Consultants and, before that, with Advanced Hearing Technologies, both Upper East Side Manhattan practices. Dr. DuLude is competent in adult and pediatric audiological evaluations, hearing aid evaluations, fittings, aural rehabilitation, Otoacoustic Emissions testing, vestibular evaluations, auditory brainstem response; electrocochleography, electronystagmography, Neuromonics tinnitus, and other diagnostic and treatment processes.She maintains direct liaison with hearing aid manufacturers and buying groups to stay current with the most advanced hearing technology.

Services

Our services include all of those associated with comprehensive auditory health, from testing to device prescription to special purpose protective and listening devices, as well as treatment of auditory disease and balance problems. Comprehensive Auditory Testing Our basic hearing tests include various measurements of the sensitivity of the auditory system, an evaluation of communication abilities, and identification of any pathological conditions. There are two broad types of tests: Subjective and Objective.

Subjective Tests measure the patients perceptions and include:


Air and Bone Conduction Threshold testing to evaluate the patients level of hearing loss. High-frequency testing (above 8,000 Hertz) to determine: o Tinnitus levels o Ototoxicity monitoring o Intra-ear emitted noise, where reported by the patient Speech Reception testing, including: o Speech Reception Thresholds o Discrimination in a quiet listening environment Specialized subtests to help identify specific communication difficulties, such as: o The Hearing in Noise test (HINT) o Speech Perception in Noise (SPIN) test, which measures hearing while in challenging listening environments PI-PB (Performance Intensity Function for Phonetically Balanced words) testing Tone Decay tests to measure possible retrocochlear damage

Objective Tests, or anatomical tests and measurements, include:


Tympanometry to evaluate the functional status of the tympanic membrane Acoustic Reflex and acoustic reflex decay, which check for integrity of retrocochlear function Otoacoustic emissions that measure cochlear integrity Newborn and infant hearing evaluations
