Title of paper:

*Seminars on truancy*

Done by: Abir Abdullah ALMuqrashi. ID :(89407). To Instructor: Dr. Clifford O. Fyle

*Introduction: Nowadays, truancy problem is spread in many schools in the Sultanate of Oman. So in this project we will go to do seminars about truancy to solve this problem in our schools. So we will do the seminars for students, teacher and parents. It will be on Great Hall Cultural Center at Sultan Qaboos University and it will present by 3 doctors from the college of Education of the Department of Educational Psychology at Sultan Qaboos University. *Analysis Process: First off all I will read general information truancy from the internet. It means I start to analyses content and resources. Then I will determine the main goals of this seminar and I will Divides the content in Unit and lesson than I start to write the objective, activates and assessment for each lesson. In addition I will write two paragraphs of information for each unit. After that I will analyze the audience. Then I will write about three learning environment and I will explain which of that environment are suitable for this seminar and why. Finally will draw a nice visual model of this seminar. *Content Analysis and Design *The goals: At the end of this seminar: The students will be able to find solutions to reduce the truancy. The students parents will be able to find solutions to reduce the truancy. The teachers will be able to find solutions to reduce the truancy.

1. Unit one: seminar for students *The unit goal: On the end of this unit the students will be able to find solutions to reduce the truancy. *The Objective: During this unit, Students will: Be able to define the concepts of truancy. Be able to identify of the reason of truancy. Be able to explain the truancy damages. Be able to identify their role in causing this problem. *The learning activities: Ask the students to give some examples of truancy situations. Give the students some truancy damages and let them to solve there. Present some videos about truancy and let the students analyze there.

*The assessment: Distribute a questionnaire at the end of seminar to write suggested Solutions for truancy. *Time and resources: We use different resources to achieve this goal which are PowerPoint presentation, videos, awareness bulletins and advertisements. And we take 6 hours to achieve it. 2. Unit two: seminar for students parents *The unit goal: On the end of this unit the students parents will be able to find solutions to reduce the truancy. *The Objective: During this unit, Students parents will: Be able to define the concepts of truancy. Be able to identify of the reason of truancy. Be able to explain the truancy damages. Be able to identify their role in causing this problem. *The learning activities: Ask the students parents to give some examples of truancy situations. Give the students parents some truancy damages and let them to solve there. And we take 7 hours to achieve it.

3. Unit three: seminar for teachers *The unit goal: On the end of this unit the teachers will be able to find solutions to reduce the truancy.

*The Objective: During this unit, Teachers will: Be able to define the concepts of truancy. Be able to identify of the reason of truancy. Be able to explain the truancy damages. Be able to identify their role in causing this problem. *The learning activities: Ask the teachers to give some examples of truancy situations. Give the teachers some truancy damages and let them to solve there. Present some videos about truancy and let the teachers analyze there. *The assessment: Distribute a questionnaire at the end of seminar to write suggested Solutions for truancy. *Time and resources: We use different resources to achieve this goal which are PowerPoint presentation, videos, awareness bulletins and advertisements. And we take 6 hours to achieve it. *Learner Analysis: Teachers, students and students parents those are the audiences for this seminars because each of those are play role in truancy problem .So we need to do seminars for all of those to solve this problem. This is analyzing for each of them: 1. The teachers: speak Arabic language because the seminar is in Arabic language, they code be females or males, they should have dissection skill. We need 2000 teachers. They should be Omani teachers. They should have some prior information about truancy. 2. The students: speak Arabic language because the seminar is in Arabic language, they code be females or males, they should have dissection skill, they ego should be from 10 to 18 years old to understand the content exactly. Also they should be Omani students. 3. The students parents: speak Arabic language because the seminar is in Arabic language, they should have dissection skill. They should have sons or daughters on the school.

*Environment Analysis: There are many types of learning environments for example, face to face environment, virtual learning environment and collaborative learning environment. Each of these environments has advantage and limitations.

*Face to face environment: Face to face learning environment enhances the learners to identify the goals and it no need money to create it. Also it enhances many good skill for example, dissections skills and communication skill. On the other hand, this environment is not suitable for shy students because they do not have communication skill. *collaborative learning environment: Collaborative learning environment enhance learners to work to gathers and it good environment to built collaborative skills on the students. It also makes the learning environment more interesting by sharing ideas with others. On the other hand, this environment teaches some lazy students to put the work for other student. *virtual learning environment Virtual learning environment is a new environment. In this environment the learners need to use the internet and use the distance learning system .It is a good environment which enhances different resources for learners. And it is good environment for shy learners it help them to do online dissection. On the other hand many learners face problem in limit connect. Also it needs more money. However in this seminar we can use two of those environments which are the face to face learning environment and collaborative learning environment. We use face to face learning environment because it enhance the learners to identify the goals and it no need money to create it. In additional the presenters need to do some face to face dissections with the audiences. Also we need to use collaborative learning environment because it enhance learners to work to gathers and we have teamwork in this seminars. But we do not need to use the virtual learning environment because in this environment we need to use the internet and use the distance learning system and it need more money and we do not have large budget for this seminar. *General Findings: In conclusion, truancy is a manifestation of the wastage of education, which is in addition to the backset of the negative effects on both leaky and society. For these reasons and more I think to do this project which is about truancy in Omani schools .In this report I wrote description of process of design the seminar. It is seminars for students, teachers and parents doing by 3 doctors from SQU and it design by Education College students. It takes 5 days to develop this seminar and it cost 500 OR to develop it. And take 3 another days to deliver the content and materials and it will cost 350 OR for delivering. It will impact all audience. So after this project we will find good solutions for truancy.
