Screenplay

1. EXT. DAY - PARK JESSIE JOHNSON (20) sits in the park under a large tree playing an acoustic guitar. A cigarette hangs from his mouth and the smoke surrounds his head like a halo. The acoustics of the guitar are romantic and soft. A couple walk past and the man twirls his girlfriend in time to the music and nods at Jessie. Jessie acknowledges him with a nod and continues to play, sucking on his cigarette. The couple laugh and Jessie stops playing suddenly, looking at the ground in deep thought. JESSIE (V.O) The trouble is, you can be as good looking, as bad and as cool as you like, but eventually you get bored. Jessie stands up, takes a last drag on his cigarette and throws it on the ground. With his guitar in one hand Jessie walks away from the tree. 2. EXT. DAY - STREET Jessie walks along the street guitar in one hand, cigarette in another. He walks quickly down the road, with a confident swagger. As he reaches the end of the street he stumbles slightly and slows to a halt. A girl has just turned in from the other end of the street. KATIE SMITH (19) walks into her street, going through her bag looking for her keys, brushing her long dark hair from her eyes. She locates them and glances up. Suddenly she stumbles over the curb and falls. Jessie sees Katie stumble and rushes over to catch her. She looks up at him and blushes. KATIE (Mumbles) Sorry. Katie quickly scrambles away leaving Jessie staring after her. 3.

INT. HOUSE Katie quickly closes the door behind her and stands in front of it. She then runs into the living room to see Jessie recovering his guitar from the pavement and staring after her. Jessie continues to walk down the road glancing behind him, frowning. Katie collapses on the sofa and stares up at the ceiling. 4. INT. BEDROOM Jessie slinks into his room and places his guitar against the wall. Lighting a cigarette he sits on his bed and puts his head in his hands. JESSIE (Mutters to himself) Fuck it. Jessie grabs a half full bottle of Jack Daniels for the bedside table and takes a deep swig of it. He stands and strips off his jacket and shirt before walking through to the bathroom. He strips off the rest of his clothes and steps into the shower. Jessie steps from the shower and dries himself. Picking up his phone he makes a call. JESSIE (on the phone) Party at my yard mate.....yeah...invite everyone....you know that girl with the dark hair...yeah the one on high road...find out who she is and invite her..laters. Jessie pulls on fresh clothes and sprays himself with deodorant. He pulls out another cigarette and lights up with a silver zippo. He flicks the lighter shut and places it in his pocket. Jessie walks from his room and out of the house.

EXT. NIGHT - STREET Jessie walks up a drive and knocks on the front door of the house. The door is opened on the chain. A man peers out from the gap in the door. DEX (23)
