This Quick Start provides a brief summary of the steps for installing and getting started with Centrify Suite 2012, quickly. For more information about any step, see the appropriate chapters in the Planning and Deployment Guide or Administrators Guide. 1 Run the appropriate Centrify Suite 2012 setup program for Windows 32-bit or 64-bit on a Windows computer. The setup program simply copies the necessary Centrify Suite 2012 files to the local Windows computer, so there are no special permissions required to run the setup program other than permission to install files on the local computer. Follow the prompts displayed to select the type of suite to install and which components to install. 2 Open Centrify DirectControl Administrator Console and create a new zone; you can accept the defaults for each option:

Select Zones, right-click and select Create New Zone. Type a name for the zone, for example, Demo and an optional description, then click Next. Keep hierarchical zone selected and click Next. Keep Standard zone selected and click Next. Click Finish to create the new zone. Expand Zones select Demo, right-click, then select Add User to search for and add existing Active Directory users to the default zone. After selecting a user to add, click Next. When prompted for what to do, keep both options: Define user UNIX profile and Assign roles, then click Next. In the Set UNIX User Profile dialog, check the boxes for all fields. You can accept the default options, but need to type a UID. For Primary Group, select auto private group, which creates a group with a GID that is the same as the UID. Click Next. Click Add and Browse to find a role. Select the login role, then click OK. Click, Next, Next again, and Finish to complete adding the user and role. Repeat this step to add as many AD users as you wish.

In the Centrify DirectControl Administrator Console, add Active Directory users to the new zone:

On the UNIX machine, log on as root if you are installing on a computer running Linux or UNIX, or log on with a valid user account if you are installing on a computer with the Mac OS X operating system. If you are installing on Macintosh computers, you dont need to log on as root, but you need to know the Administrator password to install and join the domain. See the Administrators Guide for Mac OS X for more information.

Run the adcheck program to check the operating system, disk space, DNS resolution, network connectivity, Active Directory configuration and other requirements on the computer where you are planning to install the Centrify DirectControl Agent. Run the install.sh command to install the platform-specific Centrify Suite 2012, Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition, including the Centrify DirectControl Agent and add-on packages. For example:
./install.sh

When you run the installation script, you can choose the tasks to perform and whether you want to install the Centrify Suite 2012, Standard Edition, the Centrify Suite 2012, Enterprise Edition, or customize the installation by selecting the specific add-on packages to install. You can automatically join the domain and restart the local computer. To manually join the domain after installation, use the adjoin command. In either case, you must specify the zone to join; for example, if you created the Demo zone:
adjoin myDomain -z Demo

If you want to install individual agent packages without using the install.sh script, see the Release Notes included with the agent package for the appropriate commands to use. For more information about installation options, see the Planning and Deployment Guide. 7 Verify authentication by attempting to log on to a UNIX computer that is part of the Active Directory domain using an Active Directory user account you have enabled for UNIX access.

Thats it! From here, if you want to explore further, you can:

Create and assign additional roles to users Create new child zones Import existing UNIX users and groups Set group policies for UNIX computers and users Run reports Import and manage NIS maps in Active Directory
