In this source they talk about how not only the students but also the teachers would
have to adapt to the styles of learning. They say since the teachers and student grew up in very
different times teachers are having trouble connecting with them and are having trouble
finding the best way to teach them. Since most kids grew up playing video games most of their
favorite stories are in these games and not books.
I myself played a lot of video games when I was growing up, and I still do. My favorite
story defiantly has to come from BioShock Infinite. I was so engaged in the story to the extent
that when it was over it just blew my mind and gave me goose bumps. I honestly would never
stop trying to learn something new if it were taught with me playing a video game. I know that
if history class was taught by me playing through an interactive story about the topic we were
studying, then my understanding of the topic would triple just because it was fun and made it
feel like I was there. This is also relevant to my topic because we could use tablets in some way
to make learning more interactive then just reading about it.
On this source I also found that since it was a book and not an article it was more
credible. I also found on the back of the book that it has the contact information to Indiana
University so that made it feel more credible than a childrens book. It was also published in
2012 so it is still fairly recent and up to date with the new technologies coming out.

In this source they talked about how people would react to the new technologies being
used for education. They also talked about how the mindset would change over time. They
gave a great example of how it would work. They used the automobile as their example. They
went on to say that when the automobile first came out people still had the mindset of using
horses to get around, and how they didnt see the significance of this new technology. We all
know now that life would be much harder without it. So why cant new education be the same
as an automobile.
At first when I started to skim over the book I didnt really think it would turn out to be a
good source. After a while of skimming I came across a part of this book that caught my eye
immediately. The part that caught my eye was the automobile example. I found it fascinating
that people used to call cars horseless carriages. They called them that because they still
thought about how they got around by horse. They never thought that one little invention
could change the world so much. This is relevant to my topic because with a new way of
educating there has to be a new mindset.
Although this book was written in 2009 it doesnt actually talk about how technology
will change education, but what it does talk about is the mindset of change. When you want to
change something as drastically as education you need a positive mindset. This book does a
great job of telling you how you would need to look at the change, and by that I mean not just
thinking about all of the differences that it would make now but the benefits it will bring in the
future.

and Connections. , 2013. Print.
In this source it talks about how the schools curriculum would have to change to
balance out the new technologies it would be using. The author did some research on a high
school that uses newer digital technology to teach its students, this school is called Quest to
Learn and was opened in New York in 2009. He talks about how the school had to overhaul
the curriculum so that it would be balanced and not over whelming.
I was very interested about how the normal school would have to change to include
using new technologies in their curriculum. I found this source to very helpful in showing me
what it would be like to have to change to compensate for a new way of teaching. It told me in
a very simple way to where I could still understand it although Im am not personally going
through the change.
This book first caught my eye because it was written so recently. It was published in
2013 which means it is the newest source I have. So once I saw that I knew that it would be up
to date with all of the new technologies out. I also knew that the authors would have the best
understanding in how new technologies could help.

When you first think of using new technologies to teach you might think that it will take away
from the social aspect of school. Well thats wrong. In this source they did research on this
exact problem, but what they found wasnt a problem at all. They found out that using
technologies in the classroom actually help the students collaborate with each other easier.
They found that the ones who picked it up first loved to help the students who were struggling.
When I first started this project the first thing I thought about was the social aspect of
school and how it would have been affected by the new technologies. I am glad to read that
even though they are using personalized technologies for learning they are also talking more
about what they are learning with their classmates.
The first thing that I liked about this source was that it was a government website. I feel
that government sites are a whole lot more credible than .coms. It might be my oldest source
that I have but it is still up to date with most of the technologies that would be used today.

In this source I found that they have made a concept of personalized learning. It close
to the concept that Moodle has going on but the next level up, and it doesnt have the
restraints of normal school. In schools today we go for a year and if we pass we go on to the
next grade. In this concept of personalized learning once you understand the material and
master it as they say you get to move on. So there is no limit to how fast you can progress.
I found this concept very exciting. I have always want to know what it would be like if I
were able to go through school at my own pace, and I know some people who would be able to
progress in their education a whole lot faster if they went at their pace and not the schools.
This would be a great way of learning because you have less hand holding which means you
have to understand it more than you would if you had to go to school. This would be relevant
to my topic because with new technologies being used you would need a different way of
learning.
Instead of going to google and typing in words I went to the library to get a book. I find
books more reliable because anyone can make an article on the internet, but you have to know
what you are doing to get published. I also check to see what year it was written in. This is very
important since I am looking into how new technology can affect students education in the
future. If the book was written in 1995 it could just be talking about computers but since this
book was written in 2012 it is a whole lot more recent.
